Yahoo. posed this query today..and the answers are 90% opposed to Obama
winning the Nobel..why?..#1 was just because he's Black..and the rest were
NO ! because he's done nothing to earn the award..

I don't think he should have recieved it, for reasons other than those stated above.
I believe it was purely politically motivated and that it has put him and this nation is a terrible postion in Afghanistan.
It is not a hidden secret that this nation is currently deeply divided over political lines. The war in Afghanstan being one of the primary issues.
Makes it a little hard to send more troops right now while the whole world is looking at you like some peace achiever.
Makes it even harder to not send troops when most Americans know that if he will not commit the troops our soldiers will feel the brunt of that inaction.
There is really nothing positive that can come out of this, it might give you the warm fuzzies, or not, to think Obama has recieved such recognition, but it is a political manipulation with no graceful way out.

Where the point(s) are emotional and funny, the fact is thusly:...The Nobel committee, meets in September (2008)..to begin the Nominations..and the
"Final" vote is deadlined for February 1, 2009. Obama was not in office for one
month..so how can anyone in their right mind vote this man the prize..

You may ask what it is Europe or specifically Sweden hopes to accomplish by putting Obama in this postion. Don't ever think it was out of the goodness of their heart, because you are right he was not in office long enough to accomplish anything.

No..I don't think he did anything to get the prize.
I think the honorable thing to do as well as politcial would have been to politely refuse it, citing better people and keep the prize as a true prize for achievement .
I think he would have held the respect of alot more Americans.
Now, the prize is religated to a politcial joke and nothing more.

he's having meetings to discuss sending more.
my point was that during the voting process he was sending them. so they nominated him (just after taking office) and he sent more troops. then they voted for him. and now he may send more.
they just give those out like candy now, don't they
