I have been the 'house band' for over a year at a local small winery..I brought tamborines...shakers...and extra mics...so the patrons could come and join in the making of music...

Those gals would shake those tamborines...sing their hearts out...and back me up on songs like EARL...Dixie Chicks...Or sing WHITE RABBIT by Jefferson Airplane with me...we were cracking up..had a freaking blast..It was their time to shine on the stage!!

Oh yes..I must mention..that I have a 15 year old bass player that will knock your socks off..this young man is amazing...and a natural musician and entertainer...hes unbelievable....


.In this time playing music at the little winery in the grove that is located in my neighborhood....I have met so many wonderful people...We have all become friends...a very close community...and all look forward to seeing each other once a month...

But this week end...we lost our Tom...the Winemaker....the funny man....That man made the best ever wine...It was smooth.....nice...He was around 63...We think he had a stroke or a heartattack...

This one death..among so many neighbors and friends...will greatly impact our community...changing it forever...

Its amazing how the loss of one person out of around 100 can impact a community so greatly..

Tom is one of the funniest men Ive ever known...He and I were raised in the same small town on the lazy Sacramento River...Weve known each other all our lives..

Ironically....Tom dated some years ago...when we were all young, my lifelong friend Sandy, who was flying in from Washington state this weekend..

I was going to take Sandy over to Tom and his wife Karens house and surprise him..they havent seen each other since they were in their early 20's..It was going to be the best prank ever...a bit of a pay back..

I lied to him and told him I had lost my lipstick the other day while over there and was going to come and get it...he said ok..but that they were going to a jazz concert around 3:00..

Sandys flight came in..Susan had picked her up at the airport...they picked me up and we all went over to Tom and Karens.....Sandys name was going to be Cindy.....and Susan was to be Shirley..and we wanted to see if Tom even recognized them...We had such a great prank planned for him..as he was one to pull pranks on his friends..so it was his turn now...to be the 'victim'...mmmmuuuaaahhhh..

Needless to say...we got there too late..they were gone. to the jazz fest...

We never got to pull our little trick on Tom.....he passed away that next day...a fire started in his Euculyptus grove and in trying to put it out...he died..

Life has changed forever for my little neighborhood...and our community of friends...the parties...the friends..the sense of community shared at that little winery in the Euculyptus grove will be very hard to replace...

We will miss our Tom greatly...this is so sad..
