Just a couple of years ago a Krispy Kreme opened a couple of towns over from us, there were actual lines waiting to get in. They didn't last however and closed their doors, according to the following article it was due to poor management letting the company go into debt. I guess Dunkin Donuts will be around awhile, they are the ones in the area where we live and people seem to like them. We had a couple of Tim Hortons open near us, but no one seems to go there, their parking lots are empty. They are very popular in Nova Scotia Canada where I used to vacation, lines out the door, just not here. Here is an article on Krispy Kreme.

I grew up on Krispy Kreme donuts ,starting in the mid 60's with their Ponce de Leon Ave store in Atlanta ,Ga....as far as I know its still there ...it would be a real shame if they go under completely...there are no finer donuts on the market anywhere.

When Krispy finally made it out here I tried them, and to be honest, I wasn't thrilled: I thought that Winchell's (also all but defunct now) and Dunkin (almost impossible to find out here) were better. However, sine - as I said, both of thsoe are hard to find in California, I've always been partial to the local mom&pop donut stands, which are plentiful out here..

Krispy did the same thing that Starbuck's, Circuit City & Home Base did, and eventually Home Depot & Lowe's are doing...they opened "one at every corner".

Too many locations can put a business out of business just as fat as having too few locations.
