My word for the day... Obscruation...
It sums up nicely all the various health care bills now before congress. Bills that are so long and convoluted that most legistalors never read them, and all sides of the issue can argue in-eloquently over what it actually means.
enigmatic, ambiguous, cryptic and equivocal...
For example...when is a tax a tax? or not a tax? What about: ...penalty, fine, assessment.? ... any increased government collection of revenue from ... an insurance company? ...or employer? ...or for a cadillac insurance plan.?
Wait a minute...now I am more confused, I thought the government now owns General Motors (after the bail out) and wants us to buy Cadillacs...??? l
And now a few legislators get to go behind closed doors to hammer out a comprimise bill in the senate from the 2 bills that passed out of committee.
Oh and don't forget, the house has 3 seperate committee bills... they will need several hammers and maybe some heat to forge those into one...lol
Should both of these newly hammered bills actually pass the house and senate... then there will be another compromise committee to hammer out another obscruation for the senate to vote on... and if it passes then back to the house again for a final vote.
"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies." —Groucho Marx
Only one thing is clear to me...
A health care bill that does not increase the federal deficit...
Does not translate into a bill that does not raise my deficit... .....
A few final thoughts for today.........
"The Democrats are the party of government activism, the party that says government can make you richer, smarter, taller, and get the chickweed out of your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then get elected and prove it." —P.J. O'Rourke, Parliament of Whores

Smoke and Mirrors. Baccus bill has 10 years of tax increses and only 5-7 years of benefits in order to say it does not increase the deficit over the first 10 years.
ie 10 full years of tax revenues and only 7 years of spending.
