A part of what I am doing these days is learning how to be the editor -n-chief of the new local Arts Almanac associated with the group I have joined. It could someday become lucrative, but I have made a commitment to handle it as best I can in the mean time.
This is all new to me. I have, in the past, been good in the sales department, but the people (prospective clients) came to me when I worked in banking.
The almanac and sales for it involve outside sales, which I have never done.
Today was different. I got out there, locally and visited 6 businesses, meeting with the owners/managers, to see if they would be interested in this magazine.
They were all kinder than I had anticipated and three of them wanted all the information that I had with me (so I left them sample copies of price lists, and my card), and they said they would be calling me!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!! 
Yes, I must admit that it helps me to feel good about myself, as I had a little fear of doing this after growing up with my speech issue. Facing people I have never spoken to or seen is a little more uncomfortable than ones that I have. A lot of that is from that small underlying fear of not being accepted by a stranger, especially if I DO mess up in some way.
Anyway, it went well and I have realized that I CAN do this!!!!!!!!!
