That's what I stepped in as I was getting out of my car yesterday to go into the grocery store.  Someone had kindly dumped their ashtray full of butts/ashes out in the parking lot before they drove away. They were probably the same owners of the deli food wrappers blowing around a few feet away. And I bet they are the same people that b!t@& when they get into a friend's car and have to move a couple of fast food containers over before they can get in. . . . . . containers that are still there because the driver is waiting to toss them into the next trash container he/she comes across.
As I am wading through butts and debris to go in and get my groceries, I start thinking....
*You know, these are the same people that pride themselves in being neat freaks...in keeping a spotless car (I am NOT knocking neat freaks-the world could use a few more, not all neat people are like this, just the hypocritical ones, who really aren't neat freaks at all, just freaks.)
And I think....
*There is trash ALL OVER this parking lot. AND there are security cameras all over this parking lot. If they would make an example of a few of these people and fine them for littering, it might greatly slow it down. BUT, I was told that the stores are afraid they will lose customers if they do that. WELL, if I have to keep wading through trash to enter the store, I WON'T be a customer any more! The most disgusting trash, the owners of which I think should be the first to get fined, is those nasty poopie diapers!! You know, the ones that bored teenagers seem to think great fun to run back & forth over  ....And those of you that leave your "glove" behind for people in a rush to step/slide on  ..... THERE ARE SECURITY CAMERA'S WATCHING!  But then maybe you like an audience. 
As I get into the store and start loading my cart I am thinking....
*I have actually heard people say as they throw stuff down on the ground, "An employee will clean it up.....that's what they get paid to do." Sheesh!!! Yes, the stores have to hire people to clean the parking lots. In order to do that they have to further jack up the already ridiculously high prices on MY groceries to pay that person to clean the parking lot. Now, you LitterBugs may want to pay higher grocery prices to have someone clean up after you, so you can feel like a BigShot, but I am a penny pincher and I DON'T want to pay someone to pick up after you!
My advice to those that want to feel like a BigShot by having someone clean up after them is...... Keep your lazy, saggy butt(s) in the car, drive to the nearest full-service car wash and have them clean your car out. They are usually on a main road, out in plain sight, where you can wave, smile big and hold that nose up in the air as everyone goes by and sees that YOU have hired someone to clean up after you. The rest of us will enjoy a little free exercise as we walk our butt(s) over to the nearest trash can (which is usually only a few feet away) and then we can ALL enjoy a little, much needed, savings on our groceries.

Ya know, this drives me bonkers, too.
Couldn't they at find a central spot in the parking lot to dump everybody's trash. Then they could have a huge stinky bonfire on the weekend, sell sodas and snacks, pass around some doobs, for those that partake, and make a real social event out of it!!!! Heck, maybe even sell tickets! If the store owners complain then, we give them the same rationale. Hey, there's other grocery stores out there beggin' for our business, buddy!!! Well, hell, it seemed like a good idea in my fuzzy brain, anyway. 
An old buddy once stopped by, on his way driving across country. As he left, the hoser actually dumped his butt tray in my driveway! While I was standing there! I just looked, then waved him away. The s**t we let friends get away with, ya know.

I know what you mean, I went outside to get in my car yesterday from work and there was a McDonalds bag with trash in back of my car. Where I park is just for the office people so someone is a slob who works there, geeeez. It takes 1 second to pick it up and bring it inside, throw it in a wastebasket. Is that asking too much?
I don't like when they dump their ashtrays either, it's just littering the environment. Who do they think are going to pick those up???

Our grocery store got smart years ago and put trash containers all over their parking lot. The lot is very clean. You might suggest this to the manager. The trash cans can be chained and locked to the cart corral. Problem solved!

I came home from work one day and along with my other pleasantries asked my (then) wife "What ya been doing today ?" to which she replied "I've spent 1/2 the day cleaning house" to which I replied "Maybe you shouldn't have spent the first !/2 getting it dirty !!"
Trash cans are a great idea but here in Oklahoma they get stolen quite often !

I can relate to this since I clean up after people in their hotel rooms .. I think I could put a waste basket by every chair and bed in the room and some would still throw stuff on the floor. 
on a good day I say job security ... on a bad day I say stupid ass people!

You've heard me talk about all this,Tentfire. As you know,I drive a parking lot sweeper and it's the "Pigs" that keep me in business. You will notice that in most cases,stores like the dollar store have more trash than say, Penny's or some store like that. The parents buy a cheap toy for the kid..the kid opens it up and throws the trash on the ground..momma don't say a darn thing..and yes,the trash can is 15 foot away.
Job security on my part.
It has nothing to do with class,though. I have seen a lady throw out 3 funky diapers in a hospital parking lot in Owasso..right out in broad daylight with people walking around the car. Oh...she drove a BMW. 
You're right...their attitude is "Someone" will clean it up.
That makes me "Someone"!
