I did say I was going to change NOW. Ha. Big talk. Immediately after posting the blog, what did I go and do? Bread, butter and jam for tea. Lots of sugar in that coffee. Oh, but I did go out for a run. And out's about as far as I got. Ended up chatting with the neighbours for almost an hour. Drug my sorry butt back inside... And so ended 'Day 0'. Day 1? Nothing doing. Late nights, late days. Swings and roundabouts. But! (Of course, there's a 'but') After the realisation set in that taking off would be much harder than I thought, I devised a 'new' (actually, 'formerly used' is more appropriate) tactic. Walking. Simple, eh? What on earth could be tactical about that? Here's the rub: With a heavy backpack loaded with 5kg, books, a laptop, odds and ends and bicycle parts for repairs in town. Which is 40 minutes away. And I was going to the library, anyhow. In the end? I did more exercise than a 40 minute run, worked on my shoulders, endurance, strengthened my legs for the (eventual) runs in future and got loads done as well. REsult. Now all I have to do is repeat it twice more, play some footie sunday evening and I'll be gagging for a run. Life's so good.
