im a housekeeper in a well known retirement home community, and im very blessed everyday my job is sooo rewarding, it just makes me sick to see how the elderly is mis treated, we are EVENTUALLY going to be them one day if we live long enough,i truly ENJOY being around the elderly everyday, i absoutley LOVE the elderly, DEVOTION we should all learn to be loyal to them, RESPECT i was taught as a child to respect my elders, SUPPORT its really sad to see that they dont get as much support as they should be getting 
im there five days a week i hardly ever see their familys, and im there every 3rd weekend dont see many then its sooo sad, makes ya wonder what this world is coming to, i absoutley adore the elderly, my job is soo rewarding, they give me something everyday and i do my best to leave a kind word,hugs and kisses
and i ENJOY being around each and everyone of them

Great blog!
I adore sitting and listening to the elderly talk. I have always felt that you can learn sooo much more from them than you can even from books. They tell ya the important stuff that never made it into the books. Course, when I was a CNA and interning in an area nursing home, I did meet this one elderly lady that taught me language I never knew existed! 
I especially hate it when I see people treating the elderly like they are stupid....they may be physically slower, but they have a wealth of knowledge up their in that head and if people would just take the time to sit down and listen to them, they could have some of that knowledge passed on down to them.

This is REALLY good of you Paula!! Kudos for being there for those that seem to have NO one else at times. I grew up in the industry and it is a very hard one to be around.
Many that have family, never see them and others have NO one at all that cares, other than, of course, angels like you!
They quickly grew on me too and I agree that they have a lot left to share with anyone that will listen.
