This past week I went with my sister to the Hope Lodge in Lexington, KY. It is a beautiful place where patients with cancer can go and stay while they are having radiation and chemo treatments. It is like a hotel, except that it has a den with libraries, tv's and washers and dryers on each floor. Each room has two huge bed, as the patient can have as many as two other people staying with them to help them out should the treatments make them sick. The kitchen is huge with 4 stoves, 4 dishwashers, and they have an exercise and computer room for all staying to enjoy. Each patient has their own cabinet for dry foods and two plastic tubs for their cold food. It is really nice.
She was scheduled to start her treatments last week, but for some reason they chemo and radiation doctors did not get their schedules meshed together. We went this past Wednesday and they did another brain scan and it looks to free from cancer. They did an MRI of her spine and they think that there is none there either. But they will have to tap her spine to make sure. After the last brain scan, they told her she could go home and they would start the treatments this coming Wednesday. I believe if they had seen anything, they would have went and started the treatments then and there and not have put them off for another week. I am glad that they care enough to make sure that they have gotten all the cancer.
If you were to see her now, you would not know that she had been sick or had cancer except for the shaved head. She has gained at least 16 pounds back and is the funny and sweet sister that I love and know so well.
Thanks for all the prayers and thanks for all the continued prayers. My sister and I wept for those at the Hope Lodge that need an intervention or their stay on this earth is short lived. We have much to be thankful for.

Chemo and radiation isn't pleasant under any circumstances but it can be made easier with nice facilities and friends and family around. This Hope Lodge sounds like a lovely place. so glad your sister has it for her treatments.
I was very fortunate... my cancer center (in our local hospital) had chemo, radiation and surgical doctors all in one location and I just happen to live 5 mins from there!
Prayers continue for your sister, you and your family

Yes, I too am so glad that they have not found any more cancer and that you both are thinking positively and in good spirits. It's hard to imagine the feelings you have for the people that are there, but I SO understand and believe that that would weigh heavily on my heart too.
My thoughts and prayers are also with you and your family. God Bless.
