There are a few folks here at MD who either have been recently, or are now feeling under the weather. I know of a couple instances of the Swine Flue, and a couple others that are unrelated to the flue. My thoughts go out to them. It sucks to be sick.
It is that time of year I guess. It's cold and rainy here today and supposed to start snowing soon. Good weather for soup. And warm bread. And apparently, the flue.
I have been blessed for long periods of time with good health. There have been a few minor colds over the last couple of decades, but thankfully, no flue. I am grateful for that, as I have a read aversion to the health care system, and "doctors" in general.
I have never introduced my body to a "Flue Shot." Why the heck would I go and get a shot for the flue? It is easy enough to catch as it is.... 
Doctors just don't seem as comforting as I remember my family doctor being. Yes, I can remember our doctor coming to our home to visit an ill family member. I remember his black bag and the hose thing around his neck. He always took off his hat too. And you know....he didn't have to carry around a pharmacy with him either. He usually had what we needed right in his bag.
He was a comforting sight when you were feeling down. A bit scary too, as he had the power to stick ya with something, and that was kinda always in the back of my mind. But at least he cared enough to come see you when you were sick, many times, too sick to feel like going anywhere. That sure was nice of them to do that.
Doctors nowadays seem to be thinking about their next vacation while you are waiting for them to finish reading what ever it is they wrote about you last time you were there. And that is if you are lucky enough to get the same guy twice.
They don't even consider how you are feeling after dragging yer butt outta the bed, making a supreme effort in just getting there, head spinning, crawling through the door and exposing everyone around you to what ever you have, plus being exposed to everything everyone else there has....and then going home feeling worse than you did before you got up. And you still have to go to the drug store before you can go home, because what you "need" you can't get on your own. He has to give you permission to get it, and he can't even spell it. So they use code, so you don't know what it is.
How do you know he is any good at what he says he studied? I mean, ya gotta figure that fifty percent of all doctors graduate in the bottom half of their class. Right? 
I think there is a conspiracy. Actually two.
One is doctors, insurance guys, and drug makers....oh....might as well throw in a few lawyers to go with that.
The other is oil. Fossil fuel.
I mean...we went to the moon and back on one tank of gas right?
Why can't we have access to the inventions that we all know are out there that would free us and our planet from this curse?
Add some lawyers in there too. Clever how I saved some of them for that conspiracy too isn't it? Just spread them around evenly is what I say.
I believe that if doctors really wanted you to "get well soon" as it were, they would try to help you understand that much of what you need lies within your own mind. I mean even that saying "get well soon" implies something doesn't it? Why not say "get well now"?
So...to those who are feeling badly....I wish you the very fastest recovery possible. Starting right now.

i agree. i was ripped off $100 by a doctor in new york for 2 mins of his time and they didnt even give me a receipt. After that i was told that your doctors submit their bill for your consultation directly to the insurance company without your signature to confirm such appointment. If this is true, isnt that open to fraud? No wonder your medical care is so expensive.

..its very hard for medics to .."diagnose"over the phone....and here --this is the way that....you obtain the flu Vaccine[altho..you dont pay ]

Thanks Tunes for the well wishes.  Yeah, it does suck being sick, but I always try looking @ it from the standpoint that there are others out there far more ill than I am. Indeed this is a prime time of year for the viruses to do their thing.

As you know, two of my family were quarantined for seven days after being diagnosed with Swine Flu and I can tell you it sucks. They were so weak they couldn’t do anything, and I mean, they could do nothing!
I wouldn't have a flu shot either.
Doctors aren't the same here as they used to be, we hardly ever get the same one twice and when we do, they have no idea they've seen us before. We are better records of our records than the records they didn't read.
