I own a small contracting company and yesterday I finished doing a copper Yankee gutter or some call them a pole gutter.
The customer loved my work and gave me a $1,000.00 bonus in cash, woohoo.
I was quite surprise because the gutter cost him $27,000.00 to re-build and line with copper.
Though, that wasn't my biggest tip, five years ago, I got a $5,000.00 tip for coming up with the only possible way of doing a project and bring it on time without having to re-do a $250,000 deck on a ship they just installed.

Congrats....
The bonus part probably meant more to you than the contract price...
You must feel great about the appreciation....

Yes, blaiserboy, it does feel good to know your customer loves your work.
I have always had great pride in doing an excellent craftsmanship.
In 25 years of being in my own business, I only had one call back.
I am also big into safety for myself and my workers, in 25 years no had a major accident.

A contractor's job security is in hearing "They say you're the best". My reply was always "Thanks, but you won't be hearing that from me" Having a song or poem in the heart does bring the work together with harmony !
