As some of you may recall, I was robbed last month and most of my jewelry was taken... many missing pieces are ones that my late husband had given me, so although several were costume pieces, there were a few real ones, and I miss them all.
I do have insurance and even if I could replace the "value" of what was lost, the sentimental value could never be replaced.
Well, then there were a few items belonging to my daughter here in storage that were taken and I just didn't know... nor did she... until the police called and said that they found a violin that had been registered to my late husband. HE had given it to HER to take violin lessons and it too is very sentimental.
Yesterday, the same policeman called me and asked that we come in and get the violin and look over the rest to see if any items were mine or moms. There were two bags of jewelry there, but it was all just junk, and nothing of mine.
Then my daughter mentioned that her boyfriend was missing an AMP that also was in storage, and the policeman asked us to follow him to another room. While there, we did indeed find the AMP and then I noticed some old wood boxes that I had never seen before. I asked him if they contained any jewelry. He said he didnt think so, but started opening them anyway.
Well, again.... it was mostly junk and I did find a pill box of mine with a pair of my earrings in it, and separately,... I found one of my rings, a silver one...
There were pennies and isolated pieces of what was once costume jewelry, screws, childrens beaded necklaces and little else... THEN I saw it..... I almost cried.... it was a little cameo, trimmed with real gold, ( a genuine piece) that my husband had hand picked just for me and if I had been asked to have any item back.... but just one... THAT little cameo would have been it!!! I got choked up and still do just thinking about it.... I have thought a lot about that piece since this happened.
NOW... if THIS is NOT a MIRACLE, I don't know WHAT is!! Strangers had ransacked all the items stolen from the many residences that night, traded them for drugs and my few items were just thrown in amongst other peoples posessions. I told the policeman how much it meant to me and how I was feeling, since what was MOST valuable to my daughter and to me, were the items recovered!!!!!!!!!!!! He then told me that it never happens that way, and the perpetrators must not have realized what they had, but that was a wonderful thing!!!!
I couldn't be more grateful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
