See Me
Homeless and alone... Just a bum on the street drinkin' himself to death, hidden swollen feet.
"Give me a break and stop beggin' for a dime. Your existence is a crime! Every time I walk past I see you sittin' on your ass!"
"You're homeless and alone 'cause you won't help yourself. You look like a slob. Clean yourself up and get a job. And you wonder why the crowds ignore you."
Homeless and alone looks up. At first, he does not speak. He stands, and finally addresses the angry man.
"My friend, you clearly are not aware of who I once was. I was a man, just like you, with my life intact.
Then I went to war, thinkin' I was keepin' you free. Now I see you will never be free. You will never be free simply because you will never see me!"

Few people will spend a few minutes to try to understand why another is homeless, people want to vent their anger at the homeless with no thought of understanding or compassion.
Funny enough.. homelessness does not necessarily avoid the affluent or the well educated or the hardworking....
It seems to be able to call people from all walks of life.
Homelessness allows people who are more fortunate in life to have an opportunity to show what they are made of.. offer some sort of assistance..
Too few will rise to the opportunity. they will just take the easy road and scorn the disadvantaged.
Nice poem....... it makes people think.!

A homeless person is far more preferred than a politician.
The homeless man asks for your money, the politician does not ask.
The homeless man shares his bottle, the politician does not, he makes you share your bottle.
The homeless man knows exactly what is important to him, and will you tell you honestly what that is,,, the politician, does not know honesty without a poll.
The homeless man works around the reality of society, the politician alters society to work around him.
The homeless man treasures every moment without fear, or hunger, or pain,,, the politician causes fear, hunger, and pain, so he can claim there is no fear, hunger, and pain. (don't let a crisis go to waste)
The homeless man thanks you for a blanket, the politician steals your blanket so he can get the thanks.
The homeless man finds value is the left overs of society, the politician makes sure there are no left overs.
A homeless man will eat for $2.00,,, the politician spends 10 million dollars on a soup kitchen and then cuts funding on bread to balance the budget.
A homeless man is forced by the police to walk across town to the shelter,,, until a politician sends 4 volunteers with wine money and a charter bus to bring him to the polls.. .
A homeless man needs food, water, medicine, and a safe place to sleep,,, a politician gives him a comb and a razor.
The homeless man wants my change,,,, the politician wants my dollars so he can make change,, ,that never comes.
