Well, I have practically finished all my Christmas shopping!
Isn’t buying online great?!!
I’ve got some great deals this weekend, and with my family living in the UK I could buy on UK sites and have them delivered to my Mum’s, great idea huh?

I have already bought a lot of Christmas decorations from estate sales in the summer, (I like thinking ahead) lol
Besides the fact that I don’t want all the worry of organising Christmas when I get back from my UK trip. I don’t get back until the 22nd, so as you can imagine it would be a bit rushed.

I know we haven’t even had Halloween yet, and yesterday in a store I saw big bags of trick or treat sweets, but it’s pointless here, we live way out in the countryside where neighbours are close enough to be called neighbours but far enough away that it doesn’t matter how loud you want to play your music…
So trick or treaters’ don’t come by here.

I did make 2 big pumpkins last year put candles in them and set them on the gate either side, with a big bucket of sweets marked ‘Trick or treat’ just in case a few kids passed by... but the next day not one was taken from the bucket.
I think I’ll still make my pumpkin heads tho… yeah I know, Im still a big kid at heart.

Saturday night we ate out at the British pub, sat outside, it wasn’t cold, cool, but not cold.
I was very good and had a salad, and declined the offer for dessert as they only had high calorie ones and no fruit salad, Ive lost just over 16 pounds now, so didn’t want to spoil my efforts.

Yesterday, the old man from next door came over, with a HUGE cake!.. it was at least 8” high and a foot square, lemon and coconut iced.
He said it was for Gregg mowing his lawn for him.
He was very appreciative, he also tried to give Gregg $60, Gregg refused to take it but the old man insisted saying..

“Yes, I WANT you to have it, I don’t know what I’d have done if you hadn’t have offered to do it… and no sneaking it back in my post box in an envelope after Ive gone either!”

I laughed and told Gregg he obviously knows him already!

He didn’t return the money though, I think it would have hurt the old man’s feelings to do so.

My eldest daughter called, she has finally got a nice place with her boyfriend, without sounding offensive, he’s a little shall we say ‘slow’, but he’s great for Maryann with all her difficulties, because despite his problem he is a decent and kind person who look after her and makes her happy, which for me as her Mum is all that counts.

Last night Keeping up appearances was on, I’m recording them to keep, one of my most favourite of English comedy shows.
I have to translate some of the British words to Gregg, but he enjoys it too, I’ve heard there is quite a following to the show here.

Rome and Caesar were stretched out, relaxing from their busy day of hunting for lizards and bugs,

2 candles I always light to make the room a soft glow flickered…

And as I settled back in to my chair, with a glass of wine and Hyacinth Bouquet to entertain us…

I thought to myself…

..Yes……

..............Its been a good weekend….

Please forward this guy's address to me.
I'll come down and mow his lawn three times a week for that cake!

Never miss it....terrific show.
PBS stopped airing The Vicar of Dibley which really hacked me off.
That was another funny show.

I've just had an idea; when you come here, we can stay in and eat Yorkshire puddings all weekend if you want.

Here I'm just contemplating where to buy some very inexpensive pumpkins to let my kids carve, bake the seeds, & maybe attempt homemade pumpkin pie.

Then I will concentrate on Thankgiving, a time when my whole family gets together, everyone brings a dish to pass & we spend the day together; much like our christmas too. With jobs & money being tight, we all just consider being together as family gift enough.

i live with two octogenarians, and we always watch
keeping up appearances and waiting for god
and the one that comes after that, as time goes by with judy densch.
everyone is kinda a u.k. fan in america. james bond, rolling stones,
beatles etc. things british. austin mini coopers. british idioms
are hard to understand though. but we get the general gist.
many people watch tv with the sound off. you don't have
to comment on my comment, or acknowledge it. its allright.
americans are rather impersonal. and rather rude and boorish
and gross. its a very gross country. huge highways.
texans think superbig. jean lafitte the pirate had
a huge empire there at campeche. his private country
within a country. he saved america in the war of 1812 with the united
kingdom. campeche, texas. aaron burr vs. alexander hamilton.
closet kings and queens. royalty in exile. corporate kings and queens.

I have practically finished all my Christmas shopping!
Everyone on my list will be getting something homemade this year, can't do the shopping thing this time... and I have barely gotten a start.... everyone keeps having birthday's one right after the other, starting mid October, all the way up to Christmas .

Congratulations on the weight loss!!

And I truly enjoyed reading all the rest of your blog.... could even feel the relaxation at the end.
