This is regarding my ongoing battle with the Veterans matters I have been dealing with. I have gotten over and over what many get.... the runaround, back and forth, between one office and another,... each saying that the other has the information and is the responsible party for me not recieving the basic things that I need such as my late husbands veterans records.
I recently got a second letter from the Veterans office, stating again that they are reviewing my case and that the majority of his records were loaned to a second office. This is NOT true... as I have also on numerous occasions contacted THAT office, with them telling me that they have never had any such records there and only handle records from the 1990's on!
So, here I am still fighting and going back and forth... BUT... I still say not only is there hope... I will make sure there is continued hope for the Veterans out there going through the same thing and worse.
I had also contacted the highest Naval office in our country, and the man there called me several months ago. He was very nice and told me that we should just wait to see which way my case would go before he got involved. Fair enough.... we waited and I was denied.
I then wrote to him... he emailed me with some links, but all those did was to redirect me BACK to the CENTER to order his records AGAIN. I wrote him a second time, and NOW he finally has forwarded my letters to an office I have never heard of! I thanked him for taking that extra step to help someone that is being met with indifference!
Also, I had heard that there is a Vet representative in our senators office that is good so I called her and she had me email her all the information that I have.
So, this is just more or less an update, but it is an ongoing battle and I will not surrender!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once I gather ALL this information, I will share with ANY Veteran or their family members that it may benefit!
Please let me know if you are one of those people, and I will share!
It's the least I can do for THEM!

Have you tried a local congressman or a senator? Sometimes when they get involved it gets federal employee's attention.

I went through the run around long enough, and as we felt that the VA was responsible for the death of my dad, (lawsuit) I contacted VA Inspector General: 1-800-488-8244 Amazing how quick I got the records! Much of the records should be on computer, as they have spent millions of dollars to do that. I know how frustrating it can be, and from that time on, anytime I started getting the run around, I would just ask them for the Inspector General's number. I even got stuff they said never existed.
Something you may, or may not be aware of is they keep records of everytime, and thing you call about. From what I read in my dad's records, it looked like things were transcribed in their own words. Even times that we had called to check on a presription were recorded into his records. I made a call to them, and recorded it, then a couple of weeks later got records, and there was a lot of the conversation omitted, and changed. The laws vary, but anywhere you are, as long as you tell them you are recording the conversation, it is perfectly legal. Make sure you have their name, and ID on the recording, and you are all set. Maybe this sounds a little extreme, but you need to look out for yourself, they do!
