Well, in just a few more days the little "trick or teaters" will be banging on the doors  . I love this time of year! Get to put out all my spooky ghosts and spider webs across the front windows. Bought plenty of candy- last year i ran out  .

Where I live.... there were very few children last year....
I recall that when I was a kid..... there would be many, many children and parents... it seems to have tapered off in my area...
I quite appreciate seeing the costumes and decorations, both young people and parents and people at their work. makes it a fun time..

When I was a kid my Mum used to throw Halloween parties at home for me an a bunch of schoolfriends where we played spooky games and bobbed for apples, etc, but we'd never even heard of trick or treating. It's now become big commericial business over here but it's not really taken off as much as the kids and their parents would like. I think the older generations aren't used to people knocking on their doors asking for something for themselves, the only thing they're used to are those collecting for charity or carole singers at Christmas ... which has now become obsolete too because it's considered a form of begging and because most kids don't give what they collect to charity anymore, they spend it on sweets, alcohol or cigarettes, depending on what age they are. I'm sure you can imagine the calibre of today's carole singers  . When my children were at an age where they were too young to go trick or treating I did everything I could to encourage trick or treaters to come to our door and collect the goodies I bought in every year, but there were so few, my girls were always disappointed and I was stuck with more sweeties (candy) than I really wanted around the house at any one time. All in all, for me anyway, Halloween is a bit of a flop really, but I do enjoy snuggling up with my girls now they're older and watching a spooky horror, even if it's rubbish!

Usually I "rent a kid" so I can go trick or treating too
