I saw trees changing colors last year on my "Fall Foliage" "adventure"

....beautiful...

first time I had ever witnessed that....

prolly last time too...

I'm stuck here in West Texas where seasons forgot all about us out here....

we have almost warm...lukewarm...hot and hottest...the 4 seasons....

ok...sometimes it is actually chilly..even cold...even drops 40 degress in one day...

.then like a burp..back to the regular whatever it was...except windy...

it is ALWAYS windy here...

My yard blows to New Mexico then blows back again...with their weeds included!

The only trees here were brought in by folks migrating here...didn't like our mesquite I guess....

and mesquite leaves don't change colors...just drop those dag nab beans all over everywhere so more can spring up...

they do make nice wood for Bar-B-Que though....

We do have some conifers...they are transplants too...

Seems it never gets "frosty" enough for what trees that do have green leaves to turn pretty colors before they just give up and leave the tree barren...maybe brown from lack of water???

But I have seen pictures of snow!

One yr we even had some of that white stuff...kids even made a snowBALL before it all melted....

So for tunes and josh and others who are in "Snow Country"....
I know they will be snug as a bug in a rug until they get cabin-fever and bust out of the same ole same ole day- to- day boring just waiting for the spring thaw....

shucks..no waiting out here.....

it's boring every day...anyway.... and no thaw to wait for....

course if ya are one who cares to wear lots of clothes...don't come out here....

it is cheap to live here since fewer clothes makes it easier on washing them and mending them....

but sure wish we had real seasons.......

I really like your descriptions of your area, and I know it must be difficult to live in a place where not much naturally changes. I guess for those of us that DO experience the four seasons, it's easy to forget what we really have.

I will share though that when I lived on the east coast in a place where again~ we had the four seasons, the SNOW was different than here in Oregon. It was more defined and SO beautiful as each snowflake was different.... it was amazing and I cannot believe that anyone that sees them does not believe in some higher power.

Anyway, chin up... maybe you'll get to make a trip again someday!

When I look at it through someone else, I realize I take for granted the seasons Michigan offers.

My favorites are Spring and Summer. I like Fall for it's colors and the crisp mornings. Winter, that one goes in stages: December, anticipate that first real snowfall, the one that will leave at the least 4 inches of snow. I like sitting in my living room with the curtains open on the patio door and watch it snow. It's so peaceful, relaxing. January, still enjoying the snow, especially with the dogs...the clowns love to play in it. But, by this time, I'm starting to get a little tired with clearing out the driveway. February, usually when we get the bone chilling cold...and the higher heating bills, and by this time, I'm tired of the house being closed up, and REALLY tired of clearing the driveway. March, I know Spring is around the corner, and now I'm just impatient for Winter to end and to hear the birds singing, and watching all the color come back.

I might gripe sometimes about the weather here in Michigan, but it's all I've ever known, and I wouldn't trade it.
