Is it just me, or is everyone getting more of the scammers hitting on them lately? It had dropped off to maybe one a month for a while, but lately, I'm finding two to five of them a day dumping their yahoo id's in my mail, here and on MD as well.
I guess the economy is hitting the porn industry as well, that is about the only explanation I can come up with. And they are trying to drum up business any way they can. They even seem to use the same formula for profiles, and it isn't much. Names change, but everything else is pretty standard I have noticed. Even the messages are the same. Now if I got one that was written as an individual message, I might respond just to see what would happen , but normally after reading them, I hit the spam button, then go and report the user for abuse. Tabs make doing that real easy.
I may be old, ugly and horny as hell, but not that dumb. I have to wonder, were these people born stupid or are they just practicing.

Totally agree. The disappointing thing I found out, it that half of them cannot, or do not want to read. No disrespect young man, but your country women are far more culperable to do this to me. When I say Asian I do mean Asian. Not USA, Poland, Bulgaria and the like.
Just getting across my point Sir.

I know, a lot of the messages i get are from these wanna be porn queens here, or supposed to be here in the USA. the scammers wanting money use phony id's with profiles that say they live here, but are really some place else. yesterday i got one that was supposed to be in alabama, but had set that account up while on vacation here, and was really in the UK. this one wasn't on this site, but is typical. but like i said, were they born that stupid?

The scammers are all over, not just one demographic. And one can usually tell by the way a message is written when it is the infamous Nigerian scam for example.
Sawduster, all of us get the scammers...I just cleared out 3 of them this morning, and I'm sure there will be more before the day is over. Some people do not want to earn an honest living, sad fact, but it's there. I just report them then block them.

I like when i get one that says something like "hello my dream man"
Someone had said that they collect these peoples email addresses and send them those. So the scammers are given other scammers email addresses. lol (wish i remembered who said that) Hilarious! and i've been doing that ever since.
Scams are working because people are still falling for them. It happened recently near me. The old "Your son is hurt, send money to transport them via helicopter home" she sent $3,000. Her son was fine, having a great time in Mexico.
There's no certain demographic. There's just different scams for different countries.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone, I average about 4 messages a day from these folks. Generally they are pretty easy to spot, poor sentence structure, and the fact they always call you "dear". However the more advanced will fool you at least initially into a reply, I really dont bear them any ill will after all its mostly young women from foreign countries who may be genuinely impoverished, possibly, prostitutes who could possibly be beaten, or worse if they dont play the game...On the other side of the coin some of them are broke college students in the US who want some easy money.
As a general rule if its a wannabe cam model she will not talk to you if you dont have either MSN or Yahoo messenger. I've had a few chat me up and at first seem legitimate but then never hear from them after telling them I didnt have a messenger.
Getting back to the Nigerian folks...You can actually have alot of fun with these people if you play along and dont get too over the top. But at the same time I can see where it would be frustrating for someone who is sincerely looking for love here....Myself I just roll with it, I really dont care.
I actually managed to get one Nigerian to call the local sheriffs office looking for Mr. Snuffaluffagus...That was priceless
All that said though, I would encourage everyone to donate to legitimate African charities, this continent has seen more war, famine, poverty and hopelessness than many can imagine.
Sorry for the ramble.... Hope everyone is having a great day. ~Horseman out~

One thing that people keep forgetting... or don't seem to realize is that... one scammer may have made up many male AND female profiles...... Although there may be some destitute women and desperate college students, MOST are from a BIG organization, a group working. It is like organized crime and although it appears that the person you are corresponding with is a man/woman, it could very easily be the opposite sex (same as you) just acting the part.
Yes, ever since the tip on collecting their email addresses and sending them to them, I have been having GREAT FUN doing just that when they email me asking for my addy. I even sign a name to correspond the that addy. To prove one point, one "man" emailed me but left an obvious "woman's" email address. I have given that to a LOT of the men scammers, now. This is a BLAST!!!
sawdust.....YES I seem to be getting a LOT more scammer mail lately than usual, but I am using them for entertainment.
Here is another tip..... a woman on another site that I have teamed up with to nab scammers (we can mark their profile there and we do because that site seldom ever removes those jerks) pointed out to me that most of these guys/gals are SUPER superstitious. She sends them emails to the effect that she hoped they were real and not a scammer because she put black magic spells on scammers that made their male parts rot and fall off and stuff like that.... I tried that on here the other day and my scammer mail slowed back down quite a bit .

I talked one scammer into believing i was flying to China to come visit him. he got a little upset about it. It was hilarious because he said he was Asian, his photo was of a black man. LOL! I told him that i was instantly in love with him in the first email i responded to him with. Of course immediately asked for money to come see me. I told him that i would be there in 3 days and that he needed to pick me up from the airport. He deleted his account very quickly. lol
Those silly scammers always making jokes.
Priceless

I will say that I have learned as some others on here that if I sign in as invisible, I rarely if ever get scammer email any more!!! That makes Syb, one woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You may want to try that. Good Luck!!!

I also hear from spammers. One time I told a spammer I felt bad because I didn't have any money was not working, that is the last time I ever heard from him lol. It was true however.
