I remember each week going to the local gas station and purchasing The Pictorial Gazette, it was a small local paper published in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, inside it you could find all sorts of things to do and see on the weekends and I would always cut out things to do and paste them on my calendar in the kitchen. It was always a fun weekend and it gave me and my hubby something to look forward to on the weekends. They also had a really good classified section in the back where jobs were plentiful, unlike today where you are lucky to find a job at McDonalds. Those were good times, I really do miss that paper and I guess it reminds me of the good times in life, when things weren't so stressful, people had jobs, people were out having fun, had money to have fun. I so looked forward to buying it each week. I was just doing a search online for local newspapers to find a job and thought about that paper, that's how I found out it is no longer being published. It definitely is a sign of the times. I wish the economy would get better. I'll always miss that newspaper, it was kind of like having an addiction to chocolate, it was as good as having chocolate, the paper would always sell out, sometimes I couldn't even get a copy of it. It just saddens me to see it gone.

Sadly, they did it mostly to themselves by putting everything free on the internet.

I too enjoy reading the newspaper, especially the Sunday's version.

The recession also contributed to their down fall because as each company went under, so did their ad money.

I know, most of the time I get my news online, I think I have purchased perhaps 2 newspapers this entire year so far.
