I have seen hundreds of blogs claiming we as humans don't affect our enviroment, now, that's just being ignorant.
So, if we continue cutting down all the tree's it won't have an affect on us,hmmm, the word oxygen comes to mind.
Do the math, if we keep increasing the population and cutting down more and more tree's, what will happen I ask?
Trees protect soil. By holding soil in place with their root systems, by deflecting pounding rain with their canopies, and by adding nutrients each fall with their leaves, trees are crucial to keeping and improving our soil.
Now, pouring chemicals and other toxic waste in to our water supply has no affects on us, Hmmm Those dead fish are there just save us money on bait and tackle.
Dumping thousands upon thousands of gallon jet fuel into the air will also have zero affect on us too.
Let's not forget nuclear weapons, dropping something like the Tsar hydrogen bomb with a yield of 57 megatons won't cause any damage either, hmmm
What would an impact be like? The missile would be denoted above the ground, to maximize devastation. The first effect would be the heat, which would travel out form the bomb at the speed of light, burning everything for miles in 10,000°C flames. The air itself would seem to catch fire. Gas mains would explode; anyone seeing the blast from virtually any distance would be blinded. Then, seconds later, the shockwave would follow. This would smash through anything in its path, felling skyscrapers and blasting cars hundreds of feet into the air. It would be like a hurricane, just many times more powerful than anything natural. It would sweep through a city, destroying any structure within 15 kilometres of the blast. The shockwave would be so powerful that the air would not be able to absorb it all, so instead some energy would create an elector magnetic pulse that would destroy electrical circuit a huge distance from Ground Zero, potentially even knocking out satellites. I could go on and on naming how we are destroying our environment.
I will never be so foolish to believe that we aren't destroying planet earth!
Wake up and stop lying to yourself when you believe we don't affect mother earth.

Definitely we are damaging our environment, in many more ways than you have listed...!!!!!
The loss of forests is a huge contributor to the global warming.

I agree we can damage the planet and many do, but most people who have looked at the so called data provided by the Global warming crowd, realize in many ways it's over inflated. Can we and should we be better stewarts of the planet absolutely.
But this Global warming BS is just that....BS, for every piece of information touting Global Warming their are Scientist who dis-miss it with facts, If anyone follows the money, the trial leads back to those who do nothing to protect the planet, yet want to make millions off taxing those who feel guilty and actually believe it. Man can destroy the water source and contaminate the soil, but the earth is not going to melt down, a nuke attack all out world war of nukes can wipe out civilization as we know it. But Global Warming has been debunked countless times and ways. This earth is going through a cooling down period right now and has been for the last ten years, most of Global Gores B.S was hollywood production and most of his data has been proven false, with countless lies and unfounded so called facts.
The design behind it was to turn everything global and establish the NWO if one actually does their research you will find that many of the so called Global leaders are pushing for a NWO, to give them Global powers not just local or national, their are 7 entities that are behind the scenes trying to gain global control, it's not a conspiracy theroy it's a fact, these organizations are real and have annual meetings, no press is allow to record anything, yet many of the press are involved, these reachs into both parties even here in America. They depend on people to ignore it and dis-miss it as conspiracy theory. People will believe as they will, and many will mock it, just as they do the Bible and God, that doesn't make them right.
Man is a resident of this earth he certainly doesn't control the forces behind it, no matter how arrogant he is or how big his little ego is. man can't even explain half of what the earth or the solor system is about or how it got here, it's purely guess work.

I think the Brazillian rain forests are indeed under threat, also the wonderful wildlife there that is dissapearing daily. Its quite frightening.
The Brazillian rainforests are the lungs of the earth.
The only thing I would say is that I think the governments do milk it for all its worth for an excuse to tax the hell out of people though.

Hi Popo,
I do agree that mother nature does most of the damage, however to ignore just the simple facts of what I mention and didn't mention shows we have a major crisis on our hand.
Just the few things I mention can't be debunked, times that by the 1,000 things I didn't name and we are head in a very bad direction.
This is our living environment, yes, the earth may still go on,but will we if we keep ignoring the signs and the commonsense before our eyes.

When the environments issues of the day go out of style; we will be wearing gamma-ray suits and oxygenated head wear.

Ed, In no way was I disagreeing with the post and our responsibility to this planet, and yes of course we need to do better, my concern is that when governments and world leaders start trying to control everything, their answer is more taxs will solve everything, it's killing the little guys.
It just gets old hearing the rich lecture the poor and modest for consuming products they got rich on, like Pelosi who owns Starkist Tuna, trying to shut down water supplies to the farmers in Cali, so the little fish (I forget their names) can swim up stream or whatever. She's made a fortune off killing fish and feeding them to the masses, yet farmers are losing their farms over her false sympathy, designed to garner votes from the enviormentalist communities.
Franks, Dodd, Rangle and countless others in both parties created the housing crises, made millions off of it and now are back in charge of fixing it? and doing the same thing again with this 8,000 dollar incentive, many of these people don't qualify anymore today then they did back when they were given homes back then.

Let's keep this simple and real.
Do we really need a scientific study to see the damage done to the tree with man made acid rain, dead fish, people dying of cancer spilled by companies, animal that are now gone forever and other that soon will be.
I will put in a way people can related to more, remember how the recession effected so many people lives because each of our jobs are actually link at some point.
Now, the same thing apply to to the animals world, tree's,water, air, whether we like it or not, we are part of these linking system.
Look what happen when we believe that the bankers and other financial company would self-regulated. These are the same people who are asking you to ignore what is happen all around us for bigger profits.

Popo, I can't agree more, yes if we allow the politicians handle this, then nothing good will actually happen.
Our constitution has three very powerful words when we exercise them:
"We the People"
Politicians are whores basically, whatever will get them votes is what they will pass, therefore we need to ally unreal pressure to force them to do the right thing, not wait for the next poll says.

One day we will have to make a decision between hugging a tree or an oxygen tank, if we keep lying to ourselves.
Ask yourself, which more beautiful a forest or another mall?

We are but parasites on the skin of Mother Earth. Eventually, she's going to get a flea bath.
We are killing OURSELVES. Not our planet. She will heal, but we won't be here to see it.

Of course man has an effect on the environment. I can go outside and fart, and it will have an effect on the environment. I can touch off all the oil wells in Kuwait,,, and it has an effect on the environment.
So what?
According the Darwin, the strong will adapt and survive. The weak,,, not so much. Now, since we have God out of schools, and made it dang near illegal to discuss religious teachings when we debate public policy,,, I'm not too kean on making any public policy from a morality standpoint. (it's right not to hurt the earth, God charged man as stewards of the land,,, blah, blah,,, ).
Screw that. The biggest challenge to the earth,, from the arguments on the left,,, is man. So I take up my Darwin sword,,, and pronouce that the death of the weak and stupid ones will lesson the total impact on the planet in the long run.
Now,,, I have some wood to cut. Going to have a bon-fire tonight for Halloween. And then I'll sit at it, and roast some meat, and eat some completely non-nutirious food,,, and drink some beer (which by the way, is much more harmful to the environment than water, but the last I checked no one was willing to give that up for the environment,,, just make sure the cans got recycled).....
and I'll remind myself, that the earth first people are all about force over others through law and taxes,,, so that their wants and desires can be met, at the expense of others wants and desires.
If I'm lucky,,, I'll find one with a prarie skirt, that I can convince to shave and bathe.
By the way,, when you rebuilt that Yankee Gutter,,, did you use the fast growing pulp pine,, or did you find some nice straight grained hard wood or Douglas fir that would hold shape, and stand up over time. And the liner,,, was it made out of metal,,, that requires a huge carbon footprint to manufacture into a sheet that you can fabricate in a brake,,, or did you go with the cypruss and pitch? Why didn't you just tell them the most eco-friendly fix was a heavy gauge steel roof from recycled materials with no gutter, that a bunch of Mexicans could put on in an afternoon?
Could it be because the options you installed, were the request of the customer,,, and what would put money in your pocket,, environment be damned.
Kind of the same way,,, the people who get paid from doing studies on global warming always find it,,, and the people who get paid to disprove it,, always do.

"It has been written that the meek shall inherit the earth. What has not been written is that they shall inherit it after the greedy and the selfish have already polluted the air, fouled the water and poisoned the food chain. The actual moral of the parable is stand up for yourself, for our planet and for all who dwell here."
