This is a very touchy subject, but you should know me by now. I think i offended someone I really like here with this topic. (as a friend) Anyways, word equality. There are a lot of "N" words out there in this world, but one seems to strike a nerve in people far more than it should. Ah yes my friends the "n" word refering to blacks. I think people need to get off their high horses about that word. Yeah it is an ugly word, as I stated to her, but it also has its place. And one other point before i start full rant, I think I would have more of a problem with it if the black people didnt use it as a term of endearment or a greeting. Trust me on this, I dont go up to a fellow white person and say, "yo cracka, whats up?"
Maybe I am approaching this from the wrong point of view. Maybe its more of a respect thing among people. Breaking news, this thought just in. Those who use that word are considered to be low class, so how does that figure in to the black community? The people who (c)rap and every 4th word is the n word. That means, that every time you buy their cd's you are positively reiforcing the negative behavior. So anyone who has bought a (c)rap cd with that word used even once is part of the problem. You have just lost all claim to bitch about it. You are supporting the ignorance and justify it, NO BITCHING FOR YOU.
To those who dont blindly support the word and then bitch, the point of respect. I dont see many other races sitting there and call each others racial slurs. Do you see the Irish going up to each other, you limey whats shaking? Taking a word that is meant as an insult and making it a positive thing is beyond all stupidity. How can that show any respect. How can that show any class or dignity? Seriously people. I mean DUH cant even begin to cover it. Are black people who use that word so loathsome of their existence they must constantly degrade themselves and each other? That is ignorance on a whole new level. Look at video games, movies, even tv. Ever watched the Boondocks? How many times is the n word used in an episode? Look it up. Its written and voiced by black people, so it must be ok. .........yeah my eyes rolled on that one as well. Thats more head-up-your-ass-logic than I can comprehend. Why is it ok for one and not another?
Though there are the exceptions in some circles. If your white or any color for that maatter and subscribe to the "ghetto" or "gansta" metality, using the word in certain company is ok. This place needs an emoticon of a smiley face with its head up its ass. That would be the most popular comment ever, me recieving the most of course.
You cant make a word good for one group and bad for another. Not only is that ignorant and arrogant, but self serving as well. If you want to make a word good or bad, you must remain consistent on its meaning. Until that time, it will always be a subject of great debate and constant fighting.
You want an "N" word that still brings fear into the hearts of people? A word that represents mankinds darker days? A word thrown around like candy, and its justified because the leader was white. A word that holds such hatred and apathy towards anyone who is not like them? Part of the reason why we have one of the most destructive forces on earth, no......not obama or gore. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I V
Nazi
So remember boys and girls, look at your cd collection or music on your computer, if the n word is mentioned even once in a (c)rap song, then you are apart of the problem as well.

This place needs an emoticon of a smiley face with its head up its ass. We could call it a "Larry". LMAO...
Nigga does not equal nigger.
However, according to people who understand the nuiances of the words,, I could never understand, .. "because I'm white".

I would be humbled an honored with a "Larry" emoticon.
Nigga does not equal nigger. Its still the slang for the word though. If I went to any black community and made damn sure to anunciate the "A" part, I would be filled so full of lead, I could use my...... member as a pencil. The medics would be searching for weeks trying to peice of me together.
But alas, it is true, I suffer from the skin affliction caucasian as well

Q; Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the following sentence?
Do you see the Irish going up to each other, you limey whats shaking? A; The term "limey" refers exclusively to people from England!
Honestly..."Limey?" Try "Paddy" or "Mick." (For Scots, try "Jock," or sometimes {but not always} "Mac.")
Irish people call eachother "Paddy" and "Mick" all the time, but most won't tolerate being called those names by anyone who isn't also Irish. Take it from a "Mick" like me...it's an Irish thing.
A perfect example is the following expression, which you'll hear quite often in Ireland; "You can take the 'Paddy' out of the bog, but you can't take the bog out of the 'Paddy'!" (Interestingly enough, you can "take the 'micky' out of someone," but that just means "making fun of them in a friendly way." It's colloquially known as "slaggin'," and is the #1 indoor sport in Ireland, ahead of drinking, or even sex...I know, I know...it's downright shocking to think that us Irish folks would put anything ahead of drinking and sex, ain't it?)
Seriously, though..."Limey?" Thanks a bunch, that's the best laugh I've had so far today...but don't worry, the day is young yet!
Just my .02's worth, sincerely, "Mac"

The word Nazi is a loaded term and highly inappropriate. Just because, well, they ain't. Not even Feminazi from the dirtbag Rush Limbaugh. Reminds me of something from Bill Maher, that he wishes that were no longer used -by anyone- as a pejorative because no one is like the Nazis, not even the Neo-Nazis. Name calling, that's kinda low, better fit to grade school taunting or right-wing politics. But what about when someone uses the tactics of Nazis; that seems by extension forbidden to make the connection. Like where some conservative hack mocks 'arts and culture', and while no big fan, I think of Herman Goering's famous "When I hear the word culture, I get out my revolver". Or Goebbel's use of the "big lie" often repeated. I was going to cite examples but google the Bush (or their lapdog Fox) administration's lies and there's a ton. Given that, even in a war against a party not involved in the cause of the war, the truth is the first casualty. There are other aspects of methodology made famous but not originated by the Nazis like ethnic cleansing continued in the Balkans, the Khmer Rouge, Africa and others.

Hey Yoji::::: How about Dan Rather and CBS? Just a thought from the middle. I have always been independent because of people like you, Rush and Limbaugh. I have a mind of my own. I watch CNN and Fox and then I decide who is lying the most and decide on my own, somewhere in the middle. who is lying the most. By the way, wonder who will win the 2 elections tomorrow????????

Wing,
I had a question posed to me on this topic today. But the person didn't want to post it themselves because they always pretend to be my opposition. When Michael Richards screamed the N word at some comedy goers (last year?) people freaked. Had this word been said in a "real-life" public place directed my way, how would the reaction have been? Would people un-aware of my political and religious beliefs have defended me? Of course everyone ive asked has said yes. That everyone within ear shot would have said something or been disgusted. I feel my standing here on MD made people's double standards soar. One other thing, i was not only called that nasty word, but i was called a "N lover" whatever that means. So i love them but i'm also racist?

My dear RWR, of course your racist, you voted Republican.
All kidding aside, I honestly believe that no one would stick up for you. Seeing that you are a white person, the rules of discrimination dont apply to you. Its always a double edged sword when it comes to things like that. If it was you and I eating lunch or something I would calmly ask what their problem was and then proceed to explain to them the definition of what it means and then scream and yell.
As far as people being disgusted, Unless there were black people around, I dont think anyone would say much. Now if you were black, then I would imgine you would hear a couple of disgruntled noises and thats about it. People avoid conflict at all costs saying its not my problem. Thats why this country is so apathetic.
Did that answer your question?

Yes you did answer my question. Very well actually. That's kinda sad though. I'm the type to step in and say something. I wouldn't just allow someone to be verbally slaughtered (especially with racist slurs) in public. Maybe i'm just a better person than most I may be a little rude and maybe a complete bitch most of the time, but i sure as hell wouldn't allow that in my presence.
Seeing that you are a white person, the rules of discrimination dont apply to you. Very true.
My dear RWR, of course your racist, you voted Republican Funny how people think that. Also funny how i'm not the person or people who feel it's ok, to use a racist comment against someone else.
