I'm just a big kid, or maybe I should say a "grown kid" as I'm not real big. Being an adult & a parent has alot of responsibilities; one of those is allowing myself to be a kid sometimes. And if it's with another adult/parent, so much the better!
Last Sunday I did just that. After doing some "grown up" type stuff (laundry, baking homemade french bread & chili for the football game), it was time to go into 'kid mode'. mrobvious came for the day & we took my kids & my son's friend to The Little Farmer. It's an apple orchard where they also grow pumpkins, have various types of animals, a large playground area made of all farm type stuff: haybales, tractor tires, little trikes, etc. They also have hayrides, lots of baked goods such as pies, muffins & homemade jams, and of course the BEST caramel apples!
After feeding the animals we went to the playground. My son & his friend got on the little trikes (we are talking tall boys on little trikes, lol) & started pedaling around. Well, it looked like so much fun that I just had to do it too! I challenged mrobivous to a trike demo derby but after the first hit, I think he preferred to take pictures. I went crawling thru the haybale mountain, trying to sneak up on the others & scare them. By then it was time to get some caramel apples with sprinkles & head home to watch the football game, eat chili & french bread.
It was only an afternoon of fun, being kids, letting our 'hair down' . . . but in those short 5 hours alot of wonderful & funny memories were made (and some even captured digitally).
Sometimes it's good being a 'Big Kid.'
