State Run Media Misses The Point On The 2010 Census

The 2010 Census has begun, and already the people who take the census information are finding out that the public is more reluctant than ever to cooperate. There has always been skepticism on the part of Americans about giving the government personal information, and rightly so. History is replete with examples of governments who grossly misused information collected from individuals to persecute and oppress them. Socialist and communist governments in particular are obsessed with gathering detailed information about their constituents in order to use it against them to control their behavior and limit their power.

I saw two television stories and read two other articles so far in the main stream media about the 2010 census -- each story from a different news outlet. As is usually the case these days, all of the stories were nearly identical and it's obvious that they drew from the same source. And it's increasingly clear that that source is the US government. Under the guise and facade of "independent reporting," they are simply acting as a propaganda arm for the government -- the state run media.

The stories started off talking about how census workers were noticing that more and more people were resisting answering many of the more intrusive questions on the census, such as giving their race, sex, date of birth and telephone number.

They went on to say that the government wanted to "reassure" the public about giving this information. But nothing I heard in their "reassurance" sounded reassuring to me at all.

In order to reassure the public, the government spokesman said:

*"It only takes a few minutes to fill out the form"

It only takes a few seconds to swallow poison, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing to do.

* "It's information you have already given out anyway."

Yeah... and? How does that make it smart to give it out to you? If it's already out there, why do you have to ask me for it?

*Don't worry, the government is only asking you for this information for purposes such as deciding how to divide up tax money to be sent to various places in the country. They need this information to carry out their duties.

How stupid do they think we are?

I don't want my tax money being divided up on the basis of race, sex or other ridiculous criteria. This country is based on the principles of being RACE BLIND and SEX BLIND. The Constitution supports those principles. I believe in those principles and I do not want to cooperate with anything that constitutes a violation of them. The government has NO RIGHT to ask (or force) me to assist them in violating these basic American principles.

And as far as "we need this information" goes. Tough luck. A lot of people need a lot of things. That doesn't mean I have an obligation to provide it.

*HERE IS MY FAVORITE ONE:
The news commentator says "The director of the census says that he could get six years in jail and a $250,000 fine himself if he released any of your census information to anyone else, so there is no need to worry about confidentiality."

They completely miss the point. It's not confidentiality I am concerned about.

If a crook came along to steal something from you, and he asked you for your personal information, would it be confidentiality you were concerned about or the fact that HE HIMSELF would have the information?

It's not that I am worried about OTHER people getting hold of my information, IT'S THAT I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT HAVING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Maybe you have heard about the legal challenges to answering census questions. It's controversial and you see a lot of debate about it. I have heard one well known Constitutional scholar, who I have a lot of respect for, say that he will only tell the census how many people live in his home and nothing more. It's his belief that that is all you are required to do under the Constitution and that no other law can override that. He is also a judge by the way.

There is no question that the census is critically important. Among other things it determines how things are divided up for voting purposes. This can have a profound effect on the outcome of elections.

What does it tell you that this radical leftist/Marxist organization ACORN, which has been implicated in massive voter fraud on a national level, and which President Obama has repeatedly boasted about having worked for as one of his proudest accomplishments (he was actually a lawyer for them!) was selected to take a prominent role in performing the 2010 US census?

If not for the undercover work of a couple of near teenagers, in exposing ACORN for the nasty, subversive, anti-American organization that it is and bringing it to the attention of the general public, the Obama/Democrat controlled US government would have happily have kept ACORN in that role, with who knows what terrible consequences.

Are you feeling reassured by that same government about answering questions on the census? I'm not.

I worked the census 10 years ago. I was between assignments, between jobs, and my kids needed a baseball coach. It was a good fit for that extra money to spend on hot dogs and uniforms for the kids.

I always got the neighborhoods that some of the ladies did not want to canvas. I never had a problem. Good people, trying to make a living, that's all they were. Yeah, I had some scarey moments, but nothing that could not be handled.

This year, with the down turn in the economy, I thought,,, what the hell. I'll do it again. I called and filled out an application, during the time to do that. Guess what,,, no jobs available,, on the first day of being open to the public to apply.

Now, that means,,, all the jobs were filled. Applications had been reveiwed, interviews conducted, etc. ON THE FIRST DAY. Now, my qualifications were only,, experienced, highly productive and acurate numbers during my first census, PhD, with a 1099 file and a security clearance.

The lady who came by my house a month later, to GPS my doorway,,, was from another state, and her experience was working with "neighborhood support groups".

Mind you,,, all of this,,, before the videos surfaced.

During my first census, we were trained,,, that the information on the sheet is not to be inturpreted by you. Put down what they say, even if you know it is not right. Mobile home with 10 cars, non-english speaking, all in the country, with a chicken house big enough for 40 chickens, 30 goats, 6 - 50 foot clothes lines, and only 1 person lives there. RIGHT,,, OK,,, 1. You couldn't ask,, who are all these people? That was against the rules.

Or the guy with the new england accent, thin anglo nose, white as a cloud,,,, AFRICAN AMERICAN. RIGHT,,, OK,,, AFRICAN AMERICAN. You were not allowed to ask,,, did you understand the question is about your race?

It got to the point, that many of the less than enthusiastic employees, would sit in the local Hardees,,, eating biscuits, drinking coffee, filling out census forms, and proudly discussing what they were going to do that afternoon. And it was not filling out a census form. They just put their time down as all day,,, after they had forged the forms.

There were no accountabilites for accuracy, other than the plot maps and the stuff the supervisors could look at from the comfort of their cardboard desks,,, set up in rented office spaces which were charged at 3 times the going rate per square foot. Milage calculations were wildly inaccurate,,, as I new the terrority, and knew that no one could fill out 100 forms that day,,, and drive 300 miles,,, as there are not that many hours in a day.

And let's not forget the picture cards,,, that had a language of common one word questions, with the English below. The idea was to ask the word,, point to the word on the card, and the responder would point to the answer symbol on the card, and you write down the word underneath. Since most of my non-english speaking were also illiterate, the card was about useless except as a clipboard.

The supervisors response,,, if they were non-english speaking illiterates, you should have used the card. I answer with a few words I picked up in Africa, which I know were cuss words,, and pointed to a random group of lines I drew on the back of a napkin beside her biscuit. She said,,, "I don't understand you, and what the hell is that napkin for." I told her,,, "Now you are starting to understand."

Yep,,, this is just typical government job processing. Except for the job of killing people, or blowing things up,,, this is how ALL GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS work.

And they wonder,, why I don't want to trust health care to such a well oiled machine.

The only bright spot,,, with the economy in a down turn,,, there are not as many undocumented latino americans not from the islands. I am surprised the latino lobby has not made the connection that the economy down turn started by Bush, has been perpetuated by the librals, by not creating jobs, in order to keep the African Americans with an overwelming majority as a minority. (That should start some shit.)

HHHmm..this sort of reminds me of when Obama brushed under the rug the case against Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson for mishandling funds....Yep...Im sure they would go to jail...or get a fine...yep

The biggest criminals are in Washington D.C..

It's not that I am worried about OTHER people getting hold of my information, IT'S THAT I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT HAVING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

This is gonna freak you out....You outta see who handles your tax returns...Welfare mothers who are busy playing with the boom box and playing it loud......painting nails..or talking to men on the phone...thre is NO DISCIPLINE in those offices..

My good friends work at the state office...and this was the womens observations of whom and what they work with...the women are backwards..rude..beligerent and very unmannered.....

Im sure that a cell phone pix of social security numbers and personal info would sell well on the black market....ya think?

Has anyone noticed all this ID theft going on these days? What could be going on?

Hardly!

I feel as if asking citizens to answer census questions that are not authorized by the Constitution, is asking them to participate in a crime against liberty.

That seems particularly evident now that Obama and his socialist/Marxist cohorts are trying to turn our country into a banana republic dictatorship. Who wants to assist them in this effort. It seems an outrage.

Maybe I am not the only one who feels this way and THIS is the real reason that census workers are feeling so much pushback this time.
