The middle of the roaders have spoken loud and clear on the direction the USA is being dragged along by the Liberal agenda. We need jobs not insurance reform and the people who elected him told him so in last nights elections. The middle or the roaders, as I am, are what elected him and we will send all like him home at the mid term election.
Only one year after Mr. Change was elected, it appears that people do not want the Change he is making. We all live in the middle of the road and anything Far Liberal or Far Conservative I can live without. I have never sold my soul to anyone except God and I could never embrace what either party stands for completely, they don't count my vote until I cast it. How about you????

I am amazed at all the people that are anti Obama. Where were these people when the Bush and Cheny were putting the country in debt 1.5 billion and still growing. Let gas prices reach 5 bucks a gallon in some places, export jobs and send the cream of the crop off to war to have physical and mental problems the rest of their life.
Where were you. but I do assume you are part of that 1 million Americans who are poorly educated--socially and book. americans that have never read the constitution or even understands it.
But for you people bragging and dancing around your camp fire--just ask the Californians what they got in place of what they removed.
Just remember, this administration has only been in office about 10 to 11 months. There are no magic wand to wave to corret the LAST 8 YEARS OF CORRUPTION AND GREED.
Then if you are BIOGET OR A RACIST then it does not matter to you.
Healt reform--the people that have health insurance will continue to have and to gain or lose as employment goes at the hands of their all mighty price fixing CEO.

In the two Congressional races, both open seats, Democrats held in CA and picked up a seat in NY that hasn't elected a Democrat since the construction of the Erie Canal.
The two governor's races were very interesting, although not really a Republican trend. The Democrat in VA, Creigh Deeds, was an ineffectual campaigner -- actually he was a disaster on the stump. Just boring, boring, boring and ineffectual. Secondly, historically in the year following a presidential election, VA elects a candidate from the opposite party. The Republicans won after Clinton's two elections and Democrats after Reagan, Bush41 and Bush43. It's a wierd phenomena in VA.
In NJ, the economy and antipathy to Wall Street beat Jon Corzine as much as Bill Christie. Corzine was also hurt by a corruption investigation, which had nothing to do with his administration, but netted several local politicians and rabbis. Also, a third party candidate, Daggett, drew votes away from Corzine.

To Kentuck, Sir, I honestly believe you need to attend adult education for awhile and try to learn the difference between Million, Billion and Trillion. In Washington they spend Billions as it they are soft drink money. 1.2 billion is a drop in the bucket and Oh How I Wish that was all Bush increased the national debt. Oboma and Bush's Stimulus Plan added 750 Billion and one time. Now Oboma wants to increase it 1.2 Trillion with the Health initiative. I do, sincerely hope my words are not above you. Explaining the Figure, Trillion. Sir, It takes One Million, Billion to make a Trillion and you speak of 1.2 Billion for Bush.

The reasons above are why I am Independent and anyone only need to check how the independents voted and you will understand the people that take the time to choose a candidate for and office decided the outcome of last nights elections.and they will again next November on election day. I am not sold out but I am very conservative leaning. We once had conservative democrats but they are few and far between. Mike Ross, Representative from my District, here in Arkansas is one that is still around.

after going over these posts, i am again reminded of a line in an old Robert Heinlein book i read many years ago. if i remember correctly it came from one called "the Glory Road". it pretty well sums up my feelings on government.
the government that governs least, governs best.
anyone that has read that book also knows some of the other principals it expounds. and i think many today would agree with them. i suggest you read it and then consider what it is saying in regard to government. it was a good read then, and still will be, as long as your political beliefs haven't gotten you to the point you can't see beyond what is being spoon fed to you.

As the NY 23rd District shows, our system is strongly two-party. Enter a third-party candidate, and there will be some overlap with the major parties. The third-party candidate will steal votes from one party or the other.
If the ultra-right-wingers hadn't pushed a third-party candidate, the 23rd District would have gone Republican (from a 1.5% loss to a 4.0% win). But having a moderate Republican in office wouldn't have been enough for the ultra-right-wingers. They specifically said they don't care if the Democrats won the seat, they just wanted to make sure that the moderate Republicans lost.
Again and again, voters who go for third-parties are slitting their own throats. Either their choice of candidate doesn't make a good enough showing to make a difference, or they end up handing the election to the party most diametrically opposed to their politics. While it is fun to vote third-party (I voted for a third-party candidate in the 2008 presidential election, as I didn't want EITHER candidate in the Oval Office...), it's at best meaningless, and at worst self-destructive.
