If all the world was paper,
And all the sea was ink,
And all the trees were bread and cheese,
What would we have to drink?

To me, the answer is, and always has been ink; that way, we would all have to die a terrible death. It’s not too difficult for anyone to realise that none of the above is true and I doubt it was ever a real issue for anybody; not even me.

I was more concerned about the moon being made of cheese and whether or not a man lived up there. Did he have a wife, or was he a lonely old man? Was there an old woman up there who used to sweep away the cobwebs? All absolutely reasonable questions for a youngster to ask.

I have more lucid questions as an adult, questions like ‘how long is a piece of string?’ The answer to that isn’t perfectly clear, and any answer could be right of course dependent on a particular given length. That length must be defined to allow a conclusive answer, otherwise, how would we know?

Too many people take things for granted, now take a pomegranate frinstance. Are you the sort of person who eats them tediously, picking away, seed by seed with a dress pin; just because everybody else does? Or do you grab it with both hands, peeling off the skin to discover huge edible clumps of sweetness that lie beneath?

Life is like a pomegranate; and I know how I like mine.

‘how long is a piece of string?’

My Gramps used to say that...

another one he used to say was...

"How many beans make 5?"

The answers to such questions,,, require a sage beyond my limited abilites,,,

but,,, I'm always up for a challenge.

With the soy based inks used now by most printing companies, most are non-toxic. You can drink them,, and the only real effect is that you will poop like a squid. However, like a squid, this could be highly effective at confusing and warding off an attacker.

A piece of string, is any bit of string that is not as long as the piece you are used to having. If all you delt with was kite string,,, 20 feet would be a piece. I think it's defined as, an amount that you can not do your normal string jobs with, that you save in anticipation of a job where it will be just the right amount, and you will not have to cut a whole string.

The speed of dark = 670,616,629 mph. That's 1,079,252,850 km/hr.
(that was easy)...

The best way to eat a pomegranate,,, preserves and a spoon. Best of both worlds. Analogous to the best way to eat a grape,,, is to pour it into a glass.

Now beans,, are very difficult. I tried once to make some accurate calculations with beans when I was a teenager. I put one black eyed pea into a jar in the kitchen for every time I slept with the 40 year old lady from the farm down the road. When I moved away from the farm, I had 205 beans in that jar,,,,, not counting the batch I cooked up for the harvest crew one year.
