I was blocked from commenting on the blog that compared European women to American women. The explanation said that I didn't meet the writer's demographic criteria! OK - I will write my response as a separate blog. You really can't generalize about women (or men) from such broad geographical areas. I worked in Sweden, traveled throughout all of Europe afterward, and have several life long friends in Scandinavia and Italy - so this blog is not speculative. Yes, in general, Scandinavian women tend to be more physically fit and better educated than those from the rest of Europe, but as far as personality traits go, there are as complete a range of personalities as one would find in the United States.
As for the United States, how in the world can you generalize about an entire nation composed of so many ethnic backgrounds and geographical regions? It is impossible to ascribe any general personality trait to American women. Which American women? We have been the melting pot of the world for 200 years. During that period climate and socio-economic influences created a diversity of lifestyles among the nation's geographic regions. One can not even generalize about the women of the First Nations (Native tribes) of Canada, the United States and Mexico. Again, geography, climate and socio-economic influences have created a diverse range of personalities.
Dang! In fact that was the hardest part of dating when I was in my early 20s. You never knew how your date would respond to varying situations, because there was such a diversity of values, behaviors and interests. I was accustomed to most upper middle class Southern Belles (in that decade) being extremely modest in public, but exhibiting a broad range of behaviors in private.
Then, I graduated from Georgia Tech, went off to my first job in Sweden and started dating a law student at Lund University. She was also head of the student division of the Center Party in southern Sweden. We went on a double date to a national park on an island between Denmark and Sweden. The temperature "soared" to about 85 F. while we were biking. The two girls, without a thought, stripped off their blouses and bras, and put them in their bicycle packs. There were people all around of all ages, and the landscape was mostly open grasslands. I KNEW that we were going to be thrown in jail. No one batted a eye, not even the park rangers.
Well, I batted an eye! I took several photos as we biked along, so my friends back in Georgia, would believe me. Oh, I also kept thinking to myself "I am not worthy! I am not worthy!" Yes, Britt Louise was one exquisite "looker" when au naturale. Just before writing this blog. I was looking at the color slides of that happy time in my life and smiling. Why didn't I just stay in Sweden?????
I know you are probably thinking that Britt Louise was some sort of wild child, but actually she was rather conservative in her sexuality - the Swedish coeds just saw no connection between going topless in public and being considered promiscuous!

We weren't blocked on purpose ( I don't believe)
He is a brand new blogger and since he is from Europe...he hasn't changed his settings.
From me? I've BEEN to Europe and to say they are more laid back than American woman is SPOT ON! They have one pace..."no sense of urgency.'
Frankly, a few of his generalizations are true as far as I'm concerned....

I was blocked from commenting myself......so be it...ill comment here......ive never been out of the country before.......but what im thinking is the diffrence between women can only become as to how they were raised...maybe even where......ive been single a number of years now......and what ive found is....theres little diffrence between them.....sure...theres good and bad in everybody.....just like guys.....but on a personal note here......ive never liked to be dating around the holidays......it seems i never get to spend as much time with my family as i would like.....equal time has to be spent with the other family as well.....it was like that when i was married.....thats the first thing i found out after the divorce......my time is now my own...to do with as i wish.....its an award that im not ready to give up yet......so to sum it all up here.....we all have our ideas as to how people are......its what works for you....it seems....that only matters,.......cookie

My mother is from Norway, and I've been back there several times...
Yes - women there do have a somewhat different view on the world in general, than American women. At least, until they come here...then they become "Americanized".
Reminds me of a buddy of mine: he restores classic cars in Venice, Ca., and he's Hungarian - he fled Hungary when the Soviets marched in, and eventually made it here in the early '70's. He's a straight-shooter, isn't afraid to call it the way he sees it, and to be honest, he's more "American" than many Americans that I know!
Anyway, whilst talking about women, he often tells me "You need to stop messing around with these American women - they give you the run-around. You need to go and get a girl from the old country - they treat you right."
The punchline: he's married to an American woman!
