Every time there is a big tragedy we can expect assholes to show up and say stupid things. Its always some religious wack job talking about scripture and the end of the world or some stupid family like the Westboro Baptist Church who protest, I mean celebrate at the funerals of dead solder's death and accuse them of homosexuality. Religion breeds mentally ill people. Its almost no surprise anymore. So when Haiti had an earthquake I was expecting stupidity and here comes the asshole extraordinaire Pat Robertson right on schedule.

Something happened a long time ago in Haiti and people may not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. Napoleon the III and whatever and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so the devil said OK its a deal and they kicked the French out. The Haitian revolted and got themselves free but ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor.

He also said
If all those building are down, more have fallen than are standing them maybe this is a blessing in disguise, there might be a massive rebuilding of that country.

Watch it yourself....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5TE99sAbwM

It doesn't matter if its a natural disaster or something caused by terrorists because any tragedy is good business for Christian scumbag evangelists to capitalize on human suffering. Its their means to promote a delusion and toxic dogma.

You can bet every flim flam miserable Christian organization is going to beg for money to help Haitians. Human suffering is their bread and butter. Lowlifes like Pat Roberson are public figures but there are many thousands of lesser known reverends, pastors, ministers who are in lockstep with the megaf***up leaders who pave the way.

Lets remember when Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson made history about 9/11 for saying the following..
JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters - the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats--what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact--if, in fact--God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, yes.

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

JERRY FALWELL: Pat, did you notice yesterday the ACLU, and all the Christ-haters, People For the American Way, NOW, etc. were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress as they went out on the steps and called out on to God in prayer and sang "God Bless America" and said "let the ACLU be hanged"? In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time--calling upon God.

PAT ROBERTSON: Amen

Give your money to organizations that will really help the the Haitians. If you give your money to shit heads like Pat Robertson or any other psycho church group then you are a sucker and just too stupid to reason with.

Hopefully those with common sense will just ignore the bullshit and really fathom the severity of this disaster. The average folks will want to help and will give what they can to their own places of worship or trusted community groups. There is no cure for religious fanatics....(as has been proven for many years now!!)

I agree that what Pat Robertson said was uncalled for but I'm uncomfortable with people on either side (Atheist or religious) using this tragedy as a way to further whatever agenda they have. It's awful. Everyone should be focused on the actual tragedy, not proselytizing about it.

Her name is Magdela Jean

I am still waiting like so many others for news of loved ones

Sending 'loving energy' is free,,,and it works

Thank you

When there is so much pain I find it hard to deal with the 'politics'

Bless you all,,,and especially bless our brothers and sisters in Haiti

Not to mention that idiot Limbaugh who first said that this is the ideal situation for President Obama to burnish his image with African Americans, especially the light-skinned ones. He'll use this to his advantage. And let's not forget he immediately responded to this, but it took three days to respond to the Christmas Day bomber. Never mind that this is tangible. You can see the devastation immediately; yet I can't help but think that with the Christmas Day incident, the President wanted to make sure he had all the facts before he made his statements.

Limbaugh is also warning people not to donate to the groups helping the earthquake victims. Especially from the sites that are listed on the White House web site. His logic? How do you know that the money will actually go for relief and not to line the coffers of the President, as well as getting on a list for future campaign requests, etch. Come on...how stupid can you be? Even the mainstream right-wing websites have links to relief sites.

You know, I'm glad we have the First Amendment, and it's because of it we can speak our minds. ALL of us. But when morons like Limbaugh, Robertson and those of their ilk start spouting their rhetoric, I sometimes wish there was a way to shut them up. Legally. These are human beings, suffering a great tragedy, and they deserve compassion, not stupidity.

Pat Robertson was the one that said Katrina hit New Orleans because of the gays and lesbians New Orleans had. He also made the statement that 9/11 was caused by the ACLU, seems like any tragedy Pat Robertson has a reason for it and that it was justified.

I would agree many are decent people but these nutjobs are being supported by a very large number of money givers who must also be nutjobs. What made him so rich with an estimated net worth of $200 million and $1 billion? Even if they are decent people they have to be very stupid too.

Pat Robertson founded the ultra-right political front, Christian Coalition that now has a membership of 2.5 million supporters.

Give your money to Pat Robertson to help the Haitians? Lets look at this scumbag's track record...
There was also, says Volder, the $7m he gave to 'Operation Blessing' to alleviate the woes of refugees fleeing genocide in Rwanda. Robertson's press operation puts the sum at only $1.2m. More interesting is the way the Operation Blessing funds were used in Africa. Through an emotional fundraising drive on his TV station, Robertson raised several million dollars for the tax-free charitable trust. Operation Blessing bought planes to shuttle medical supplies in and out of the refugee camp in Goma, Congo (then Zaire).

But investigative reporter Bill Sizemore of the Virginian Pilot discovered that over a six-month period - except for one medical flight - the planes were used to haul equipment for something called African Development Corporation, a diamond mining operation a long way from Goma. African Development is owned by Pat Robertson

Just because one person who's a christian(Pat Robertson)says something negetive doesn't mean you have to list all christians that way. What he said was wrong to say.God loves everyone in the world plus I guess you don't hear the news about several churches are either just raising money or headed down to Haiti to help, there's a church in Cleveland Ohio that they've been sending members there for years now to help.We in the United States takes things for granted like buying clothes, food, having a home to live in,in Haiti, they don't have that luxury, keep Haiti in your prayers.

Just a couple hours ago the area in and around Jones, Spencer and Choctaw Oklahoma
which is a mere few miles east of OKC, has been hit with 3
earthquakes, one being yesterday !
Those today were 3.8 and 4.0 on the Richter scale!
The one yesterday was a 3.3 !!

This can be verified @
http://www.google.com/search?q=recent+earthquakes+in+oklahoma+&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=utf8&oe=utf8&rlz=

Does this mean that those people living there have sinned terribly and should repent immediately before swallowed up and burn forever in hell ??

Or, accept it as a natural phenomenon and go on living but to
be careful and build future buildings that would be more
stable during an earthquake as well as tornado resistant since this really is Tornado Alley !!

What truly baffles me is how with that boat being only 500 ft. long, how in the
world did Noah manage to get some of those dinosaurs which are as long as
90 or more feet all fit together in there !!

I've also wondered where the storage bins for the food to nourish all those animals
were kept or were there 'supply boats' tied to the larger boat ??

After all the species that have gone extinct, I doubt if one could manage to get a
pair of each of 'em loaded and kept for 40 days 'n nights without some bloodshed
on a boat that size today !

What were the preditators and meat eaters fed...........maybe the newborns ??

Did the kangaroos go 'topside' to get their daily 'hoppin' exercise ?? And, without
umbrellas ??

I have been hearing something along the lines of a Right Wing think tank (need the source) pressuring Obama to let George W. Bush play some kind of role in this Haiti tragedy.

My first thoughts are of how he Dealt with United States citizens of the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. I believe that his response only amounted to taking a leisurely helicopter flight over New Orleans........ and that's all he did.

I figure that if Obama allows that clown to to play any role in trying to help the citizens of Haiti it would be detrimental to Haiti's citizens.
I hear that Armed services are headed there..... I'm sure that if GWB had his way, he would have the Armed Services personnel open gun fire on the citizens under martial law. That loser-warmonger had his chance over 8 years, Obama would be making a mistake to bring him into the picture.

He (GWB) only knows how to destroy and cause misery.

He is a failed "has been" that deserves no role in this new government.

My question is:

Why our Marines?

Korea has Marines..the Dutch..etc.

Why 10,000 of our troops, like the 82nd?

What's the problem here?

Europe, South America and the rest of the world suddenly run out of boots on the ground?
iglooo101

Josuha,My question is:Why our Marines?
That is a a good question
Will answer it with another question:
Who is in the line of fire?
Open Google maps or any world Atlas and the answer will be there very visible.
Some people always wait for the POWER VACCUM to start their ILLEGAL activities.
And how many knotical miles between the USA and Haiti?
Enough to encourage drug smugglers and all kinds of illegal activities to start..if not they already have started and they are on their way...
So, do you think the Marines should be called or not?
Josuha

Jan 15 @ 5:15PM
So, do you think the Marines should be called or not?

My point is this.

If the 'United Nations' are so concerned about Haiti, then match man for man, truck for truck, vessel for vessel.

Remember Somalia?

That was a 'U.N.' humanitarian mission also and we ended up shotting it out with the local people and government.

Yugoslavia..

etc..

There is something wrong with this picture.

Show a some pics of dead people and everyone wants to help.

And that is a good thing.

But history has shown, these 'good intentions' are only the surface icing on the whole cake.

Help, but keep the military and politics out of it.
Dump the shit in the Haitian presidents back yard and tell him 'You wanted this job..you do it.."

My prediction:
We're going to be in Haiti for years.

Considering our economy, we're already in two wars and possiably a third on the horizon.

Bad medicine.

Josuha

Jan 15 @ 5:27PM
For those who are interested.

Look at the map of the island of Hispaniola.

It is divided between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

The Dominican Republic has a good economy etc.

"Companies operating in and out of our many Industrial Duty Free Zones produce a wide variety of goods, including apparel, Electronics, footwear, leather goods, jewelry and medical products.
The Dominican Republic is home to many international industrial manufaturers, among which are Hanes, Rockwell, Wolverine Worldwide, Dexter Shoe, Kohler, Wacoal, Power One, Cuttler- Hammer, Andin International, Abbot Laboratories, GTE, Motorola, Baxter, Citibank, Smith-Enron, Colgate Palmolive, Johnson & Johnson, Siecor, Shell, Xerox, IBM, Falconbridge, GE, Verizon, France Telecom, Motorola and many others. Employers characterize the Dominican labor as being diligent, highly trainable and capable of utilizing new technology. The tendency of these companies, once located, is that of expansion-a true demonstration of trust in the country and satisfaction with the Dominican workforce. The Dominican labor force is the nation's main asset."

Haiti, one of the poorest nations in the world.

Again, what's wrong with this picture?

Haiti, one of the poorest nations in the world.

Again, what's wrong with this picture?

One explanation I've seen is that, at one point in the Dominican Republic's past, their leader deemed protecting the environment a priority. So their part of the island hasn't been subject to the degradation of farmland as was seen in Haiti.

Another explanation I've seen is that, when the Haitians kicked out the French, the peace treaty specified plenty of reparations that the Haitians had to pay the French. So no chance to build, as their fragile and tiny economy had to spend decades (centuries?) paying off that debt.

And another might be because the unrestrained accumulation of revenue by the top 1% of society resulted in almost no money for the poor.

But it's probably a combination of all three of those, with multiple other causes as well.

And every time there is a Christian asshole saying stupid things we can expect an Atheist asshole to show up and point out how stupid the things they say are, attributing it to the fact that they're Christian, and not the fact that they're stupid, which if you ask me, just goes to prove that Atheists are equally as stupid on the whole as Christians are.

I'm agnostic, and I'll tell you what, when you look at every permutation of religion or non-religion, guess what, they're all full of idiots. Basically you're saying everyone is an idiot and an asshole but you're not understanding what their differences are and I'll try to explain why. The atheist asshole can't blame anyone else for being an asshole. The atheist asshole takes full responsibility for themselves. The Christian asshole blames imaginary beings, the devil or God or with people of other religions or even those who are a different kind of Christian. They just don't blame themselves. The agnostic asshole by virtue of being agnostic simply doesn't know who or what to blame so they blame everyone and that in itself helps make them an asshole. Study this well. You will be quizzed later.
