As of a week ago, Obama has spent 65 days on vacation, in 19 months (3.42 days of vacation per month).

For comparison, Bush Jr. by this point in his presidency had spent 120 days on vacation in 19 months (6.3 days of vacation per month). Cite

Of the recent Presidents (going back to Carter), in their first year in office (not including Camp David):
Carter spent 19 days on vacation (1.6 days per month)
Reagan spent 42 days on vacation (3.5 days per month)
Bush Sr. spent 40 days on vacation (3.3 days per month)
Clinton spent 21 days on vacation (1.8 days per month)
Bush Jr. spent 77 days on vacation (6.4 days per month)
Obama spent 26 days on vacation (2.2 days per month)
Cite

And before anyone leaps on the qualifier "not including Camp David," Obama spent an additional 27 days at Camp David. Bush Jr. spent an additional 78 days at Camp David.

Note that the only Presidents who spent less time on vacation than Obama were fellow Democrats...

Not that any of this matters. If there's anyone in the world who "takes their work home with them," it's whomever is the current President. They travel with a communications suite that most multinational corporate executives would kill for. If there's anything that needs their attention, they can be reached even if they're in the most remote areas of the world.

what's your point? the guy across the street goes camping every weekend--- eight vacation days per month. that doesn't take into account any weekday / holidays added to the total. but he is totally away from his job.

when the pres pretends to go on vacation, whereever he is, he still puts in time at work. or not...

Why is going to your home or going to Camp David considered a vacation. One thing for sure, President Bush spent his time outside the White House at his home or that of his family's in New England. Not great expense to the US. Also, a movie was made by Michael Moore about how much golf President Bush played. President Obama has already played more golf than President Bush did in his entire 8 years in office. I agree everyone needs a vacation and that the President never really is on vacation. What I am opposed to is the hypocrisy of those who bash Bush on one hand, than excuse Obama on the other. They are entitled to do whatever it takes to keep their minds fresh, so let them do what they have to. I am still waiting on Moore's movie exposing President Obama's golf game. I think I will be waiting a long time. Let him play golf but let all presidents play golf. They have a lot on their minds. But just be consistent. One thing we all should do is pray for the health and decision making of all of our presidents.

And how many of the 120 days of "vacation" were spent at his home in Crawford Texas, where he had everything necessary to run the Government?? And you compare this to Globetrotting Obama and his pack of vagabonds that have seized the White House? Their latest quest... bringing one of the daughters to Spain and renting 30 rooms at a 5 star resort! Dam! wish I could go even if I had to stay in a tent.

Which was exactly what I said in the last paragraph. It doesn't matter where the President is. He could be stranded on a desert island, and there's a guy next to him with a phone that can reach anyone on Earth.

The statistics I quoted were vacation days. Care to do a little Google research as to how many days Bush Jr. went and did minor government duties to justify using taxpayer money to pay for his trips to fundraisers?

Why not? I did the research on vacation days.

I heard a news story once that said the Bush Jr. was in crawford tx so much that the secret service named it the second white house.... but to be fair, the president is never REALLY on vacation. Democrat or Republican... it's a hard job.

I think Obama can go on vacation and let his mind go blank, any time he wants to.

He just turns the teleprompter off.
