This morning I’m doing my very important work for the US Army while watching a little TV. Yes, I can do both so I’m not wasting your tax dollars. Not by choice, anyway. So the morning news comes on and I see the results of the latest Republican debate. I just about S__T my pants. It seems Newt Gingritch asked his wife if she’d be generous enough to allow him to have a mistress while she stayed at home and played dutiful little wife. Ok, I’m paraphrasing but that’s the gist. Newt says she’s lying. So I gotta decide who I believe. Newt, the politician who’s had three wives and admits cheating on them…….or wife number two who was probably cheated on and has an ax to grind. Newt was asked about the whole thing during the debate and he said he was "apalled" that a news person would ask it. I got news for you, Newt, All those "family values" issues you authored in the eighties through 2000s are coming back to bite your ass.

Considering all these facts, speculations, claims, and denials, I came to a conclusion that satisfies me, if not some party loyalists who’ll support the Newt no matter what. I reached this conclusion through party history. You see, Reagan and Dubya (twice) were elected by stumping for “family values”. This while Newt was the Republican National Chairman. Now, I know men will stray. It’s an open secret that women will too. No harm, no foul, unless it’s my spouse or girlfriend who does it. I just can’t get enthused about a politician or party that claims to be God Fearing Moral Directors of the American People. But I keep score. It’s something that very few party loyalists do. If they did, they’d refuse to be Republican OR Democrat. So I came to my conclusion.

Newt is a hypocrite of the first order. He stands head and shoulder above most hypocrites. He even rivals the Oval Office Head Hunter, Bill Clinton. I just hope the American public has a long enough memory to remember who Newt Gingritch is. If so they’ll vote for someone who can get elected. Newt isn’t that man. The problem is there’s not a Republican candidate who CAN get elected. So prepare for another four years of the present incompetence. There IS one bright spot. In a speech yesterday President Obama sang a snip of an Al Green song and sounded pretty damned good doing it. It’s not a bad thing to have a cool President. I guess you’d have to go back to Harry Truman to find another.

So who am I going to vote for? I might just cast a protest vote this election. I’ve done it about half the time in past elections. When you have nobody but professional liars and hypocrites to vote for, why not? I don't want to insult anyone, but anyone who'd support Newt now is just as much a hypocrit as he. Or that person is a fool.

Sloriver, you and I must share at least some political DNA. I was really taken by the audience's response to Newt's answer concerning his infidelity last night. They applauded when he answered King's question by saying it was despicable. This is supposed to be the party of "family values" right? Yes, it was despicable, but not because he was asked about it. It's despicable because he engaged in the despicable behavior. This is particularly true when you consider that he lead the charge against Clinton for engaging in the same debauchery, while he himself was cheating on his wife and children. By the way, that's not just despicable, it's also called hypocrisy.

I don't know who I'm going to vote for. However, I can say this, "if I can't trust him to be faithful to his family, can I really expect him to be faithful to the office of the president, and our country?"

I have often said that core party voters would vote for Satan if he were nominated by their party. I've been a Republican since 1968 and I've made some mistakes in voting but I'll never make the mistake of voting for someone just because he's Republican. If anyone but Ron Paul is nominated I'll vote for Obama. At least he's an honest family man who can talk family values without hypocrasy. And he can sing.....lol.

You're like most party loyalists. You can see the fault in Clinton but all he really did was get a BJ. You think Newt wasn't getting his knob polished when he was cheating? Clinton was a liar but at least he wasn't a hypocrit, leading the charge for "family values" while popping his mistresses. As for spending, you'd better look at all the presidents from Ike on. Bush was a huge spender and with adjustments for inflation I'd guess he spent just as much as Obama. You can't call yourself a Conservative if you've approved of any Republican since Ike. But some people have blinders on as well as having an asshole.

Where is your credibility with statements like that. I have been a true American Independent all my voting days except my first vote at 18 where I voted only for Dumbocrats. They must be a little lame, after all their icon is a jackass. go figure. They quickly broke me of the one party ticket. As far as Clinton's adventure it ranged from One that was called trailer trash by the media to one Miss America, Elizabeth Ward and one that reported he Ate P---- like a champ. By the time the mud wrestling was over, you couldn't tell what colored bikini any of the girls was wearing, or if she had anything on at all, for all the mud.

It looks like Republican "family values" are going the same way as those girls' swimming suits !

I'm wasting my time but I'll try. I voted in all Republican primaries since 1968 when I came of age. I knew what conservatives were and considered Republicans the party of conservatives. The first Bush tried to be conservative but was forced into tax increases by the Dem mojority. Since then there have been no conservatives in office. They've thrown up the smokescreen of "family values" and "born again" ethics but it was all lies. We know that because the architect of it was Newt who was cheating on and divorcing wives. While remaining a traditional Republican I couldn't support neo conservatives like GWBush.

You claim to be independant but use words like Dumbocrats and resort to name calling when your party is opposed. You demonstrate your anger by taking the name calling to the personal insult level. I happen to think anyone who votes for a condidate just becaue of his political party is a mental defective but that's not you because you're an "independant". Who's credible here? Not the one with smoke coming out his ears. I criticize Dems and Reps alike. I might vote for the lesser of two evils but I prefer to check out ALL the evils before voting. That's why I've voted for third party candidates so often. I have no loyalty to the New Republicans or the Same old Democrats. BTW, Clinton was the only prez since Ike who balanced a budget and had a surplus. For whatever reason, you gotta give a Dem that credit. Of course I've been told that prosperity was just lag from Reagan and the crash when Bush was elected was just lag from Clinton......lol. Are you a spin doctor like Newt? It seems so.

Hey Guy. Just like some more of your deep thinking and slow understanding. Clinton did leave a surplus in his over sized budget and that was by design and nothing else. He also spent more that than the GNP the same year he left a surplus in his budget so the USA went further in debt, Check it out. Now for the Slow, and admittedly so, Slow River. If you were heading a Company and asked your owner for, lets say 2 million dollars operating expenses for the fiscal year and he approved it. Are you still with me, I will type slower. Now in the process of that fiscal year you only made a net profit of 1 mil 100 thou dollars, That would leave you 90 thou surplus, also in the process of that fiscal year you spent 1 mil 600 thousand that would leave you 300 thousand surplus in your budget, right? Still with me??? When you spent the 1.6 million you were .5 million in the hole, right. Am I going too fast, hope not?

Now you are making your annual report of profit and loss and you report that you are .5 million in the hole, but wait boss, there is a bright spot, I STILL HAVE A 300 THOUSAND SURPLUS IN THE BUDGET TO REPORT. THAT IS WHAT CLINTON DID BY DESIGN, BY ASKING FOR MORE THAN HE WAS GOING TO SPEND AND THEN CLAIM HE IS THE GREAT SAVER OF THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS MONEY BY LEAVING A SURPLUS. WE STILL WENT IN THE HOLE THAT YEAR. CHECK IT OUT, O YE OF LITTLE UNDERSTANDING. You are a doke for sure if you believe there was anything other than a surplus on paper. I admire that deceiver of the people because he has the dokes like you believing ever word he says. The joke then was, Hillery are you gong to believe me or your lying eyes. are your eyes lying to you???. Hey Tommy Baby. I will not use either one. The destruction of our financial structure started long before either one, ie Lyndon Johnson"s Great Society and every president since him has been feeding that monster. Where have you been. Lyndon said, he was going to take from the rich and give to the poor, well what he really was saying is I am going to take from the middle class and give it to the lazy asses that wont work. That is when our demise started. I will not discuss who has said that same thing lately., I believe you already know, but I may be giving you too much credit. I do know that the morning news said that Newt paid 31% of his income as Income Tax. How much of your income went to taxes. My son paid 32% of his income for income taxes. How much more can we stand??? Ask yourself that question if you can get past the sexual aspects of the electoral process. Which one will do me the least amount of harm while serving??? These are my questions and should be yours. The sexual issues as risen here has nothing to do with political parties it has to do with being horny. I would bet that anyone here, including me, has had the same issues in their lives and it also has nothing to do with calling ones self a Christian or not. It has to do with the money bleeding from our country each and every day with no end in site. Now go push your agenda as you will and be a sold out doke hiding behind a party idiology. shameful!!!

True. Reagan's deregulation started the financial fiasco in which we are now involved.
so did the deregulation of securities, by you know who.

Like figures? When Ronnie was California Governor he gave a speech about everybody paying a fair share in state income tax.

My fair share as a carpenter, banging nails i the hot sun was $158,

Ronnie's fair share, with governor's salary, ranch profits, speaking fees, movie residuals, and whatever the lobbyists gave him, was $ 0. That is zero, zip, nada, nothing !

The old Gyper he spoke of in speeches was Reagan himself.. He gyped a whole state, at least the middle and working class citizens.

Clinton didn't ask or get more than he expected to spend. The budget is determined by congress and that means Republicans had to approve the budget. There were massive budget fights all through the ninties. I'm surprised you don't understand that. A president might ask for anything but he won't get it. He'll get the compromise solution worked out by the prez and congress. Clinton planned to spend every penny of the budget and he did. The surplus that year resulted from the internet boom which grew the economy and provided more tax revenue than expected. This isn't to say there wasn't a good deal of success by Clinton. There must be a climate that allows expansion of this sort. I'm not convinced it wasn't a once a century surge in technology and economic growth that caused it but the surplus that year had nothing to do with what Clinton requested. Saying he engineeered the whole thing is laughable. It's like Al Gore inventing the internet. Please think now. Don't post until you think it through and have read carefully. I didn't say Clinton reduced the debt. Only that he had a budget surplus. You wouldn't have misunderstood if you'd reduced your anger and stayed cool.

I do know that the morning news said that Newt paid 31% of his income as Income Tax. How much of your income went to taxes. My son paid 32% of his income for income taxes.

Those famous tax cuts by GWBush saved everyone some money. The tax cut on those below 15K was 5%. Of course people under 15K didn't pay anything so the cut was meaningless to them. A household of four that made 50K were given a 2% tax cut. I was in this catagory and I got 83 dollars off my tax bill. Dick Cheney who recieved 7 million dollars in deferred salary from Halliburtonn while he was in office was in the tax group that got 3% cut. This amounted to an $83,000 tax cut for Dick Cheney. I tell you what I'll do. I'll give back my 83 dollars if Dick Cheney will give back his tax cuts for those GWB years. Tax cuts that helped himself and his rich friends were what Dubya was all about. He had to return the favor of having his father's important friends get him into the Texas Air National Guard ahead of those who'd already applied. Idon't want to bring up old arguments but I can live on Dick Cheney's tax cut so I wonder WTF he needed one for. And if your son is in the 34 percentile I wonder what he's complaining for. He can charge what he wants and screw us 2 percenters. I don't mind his making money. I just mind the crybaby way those 34 percenters beg for relief. And I mind the way rich oil presidents give it to them.

My problem, or lack thereof, is that I don't see governments, politics, and/or money as solutions to our core problems. We created the controls and problems and then use them to create more problems while looking past the most obvious solutions as though there's no other way.

This is old news but Bush never answered it or filed suit for defamation so you got to give it credence. Just Google "Robin Lowman".
Or you can go here:
http://archive.democrats.com/display.cfm?id=159

The story was scrubbed from CNN but Larry Flynt stands by it. If it's true the girl was 15 when she got pregnant. This was during Bush's Air National Guard days when Barbara Bush said of him, "To know George is to dislike him".

This will just keep the argument going but as long as we're civilized about it, no harm.

Hey Tom, let me give my opinion on this. The robber spends more money on the dynamite. The banker just runs to Obama with his hand out to get the money. So in reality the American people spend the most money stolen from them by Obama and given to the bank.

Jan 20 @ 11:44PM
My analysis of the election.

First off: Leave aside hopes, fears, and assumptions. Look at the fuzzy/hard data. I'm talking about polls. I know, a lot of you don't believe in polls, but within their limitations, they DO work.

There is a website called "realclearpolitics.com" where they keep an ongoing average of the last month's polls, from about six different sources. Which means that the ones with liberal bias (e.g., PPP) are balanced with those with a conservative bias (e.g., Rasmussen).

From the poll averages, Romney has the best chance of winning against Obama. He's stumbled a bit in the last few days, but he's still only 1.9% behind Obama (from the 1.2-1.5%-behind range he was, before the Bain Capital and Tax Returns issues came up). Now, while it may seem that means that Romney will lose, it isn't necessarily the case. As we saw in 2000, a presidential candidate can win more votes, and still lose the election. (We'll leave the shenanigans pulled in Florida off the table...) What matters isn't who gets the most voters, but who gets the most electoral votes. And when it comes to that, all those small states with conservative tendencies give the Republicans the advantage.

If you go to a website called "270towin.com" ("270 electoral votes to win"), they have an interactive map, where you can decide for whom each state will vote. They even include the results of the last 10 elections, so you can see if there are trends you believe will continue. I went through it, and saw that--all things being more-or-less equal--Obama, or ANY Democrat, will have a fight on their hands. They can easily get within 10 or 20 electoral votes of winning, but winning those last few votes would involve winning hotly-contested "swing states." If the Republican is even halfway likeable, it's often impossible for the Democrat to win.

So Romney is within 2% of Obama. With the margin of error, that means they're pretty much dead even. He could easily win... as long as he doesn't screw up too badly. But with the release of McCain's file on Romney (look it up; in 2008, McCain had his operatives dig up all the dirt they could find on Romney, and someone released it to the internet), things just seem to continue piling on Romney. He's got almost 10 months to recover, but there's plenty of ammunition out there. And Romney is embracing some Republican platforms that aren't all that popular with independents (and even a lot of Republicans).

Okay, so stepping back from that, Romney is almost 2% behind Obama. Gingrich is 11% behind Obama. Santorum is almost 10% behind Obama. And Ron Paul is just over 5% behind Obama. All those are +/- a few percentage points (the margin of error), but they're all outside the possibility of being tied. Those three "not Romney's" just turn off too many independents to have a chance of winning. They'd probably end up even losing some REPUBLICAN states to Obama.

Romney's the only one who has a chance of beating Obama. A good chance, if he can manage some damage control. The Republicans are masters of propaganda, so he should recover, if he could just stop sticking his foot in his mouth.

Always thought of him as lusting only for power,,, good to see he is mortal and graves a little nookie every now and then,,,, as several of his peers have done.

Of course,,, FDR,,, hung out at camp David so no one could see him with the "nurse".

JFK,,, (much like Obama),,, was loved by the press, and got a pass on stuff like that. It was,,, expected,,, manly,,, etc.

Clinton,,, well,,,, it never was the boinking of the chick that bothered me,,, as much as him insulting my inteligence about what sex is and isn't,,, and perjury.

Newt is an egomaniac,,, just like the rest of them when they actually think they can run our country. Guess what,, it takes a personality like that to do the job.

Our current POTUS,,, is no exception. Just check out the body language of his and his Mussolini like gesticulations during the applause breaks on any of his speaches.

As far as honesty,,, well,,, it took the POTUS how long just to cough up a birth certificate that would be accepted if he applied for a passport? And his transcript or records from his reported education at Harvard,,, still MIA. You see,,, even McDonalds would not hire him in a management roll,,, without a transcript of his educational records,,, if he claimed it on the application.

Like I've said before,,, everyone should do themselves a favor,, and write down their three or four biggest issues for our country,,, and evaluate the canidates on that,,, and that alone. Everything else,,, is just static.

Jobs,
Debt,
Over-regulation and federal intrusion into local and personal matters,
Forign Policy

Now, all I have to do is check the boxes about which one I think will do a better job on these,,, based on what they said, and did,,,, and prior to running for POTUS.

Best I can tell,,, who they fvck,,, how they fvck,,, how many they fvck,,, and about anything else they can do in their bedroom, on the kitchen counter, or on the floor of the oval office,,,,,, has about zero bearing on what I think is important to our country during this election.

Around a year before the election?

The second birth certificate was one that regular citizens couldn't access. Regular Hawaiian-born citizens have to settle for a computer filling out a form from information taken from a database.

I agree with most of what you said, SNG, but let up on the birth certificate thing. It's like hammering on Obama's second name. Pointless and futile. He has proof he was born in Hawaii. Live with it. There are other issues that need attention. No use diverting attention from these for a non issue.

Just like assholes, everyone has an opinion and you certainly have yours. I did not have sex with that woman, ie, girl, 18 years old and she did not give me a BJ in the oval office and I left no stains on the little blue dress or maybe the carpet either, get real guy. No one is head and solders above that and if you believe that you must be the one in the last sentence of your blog.

Short term memories... how can many forget how Newt pounded his fist and went after Clinton about his affair.. all the while, Newt was doing the same.. Talk about double standards.. which is why I wouldn't vote for Newt.. He seems to be wearing two faces..

I may not like Obama, and the other choices suck as well.. I'm beginning to think all the smart ones are just that.. too smart to run for President these days..

This is the thing that bothers me. I don't really care who gets his knob slobbered. What I care about are hypocrits trying to guide me morally while they're tucking their commandments away in the closet. Yeah, there have been cheaters in the White House before and there will be again. I don't think Clinton or Kennedy were hampered in their performance by theirs. But Newt crucified Clinton for a BJ while getting his. Newt's a rat fvcker.

I never said I didn't beleive he was born in Hawaii,,, I said the certificate he had posted on line a year before the election,,, would not be accepted if he was attaching it to an application for a passport.

It was an easy issue to fix,,,, easy to put to bed,,,,
and he let it fester for how long?

Kind of the same arogant attitude when he referred to the tea party as tea baggers. And thus,, ,he pissed them off,,, and galvanized the oppisition that caused the Dem's to loose control of the house.

Yeah,, ,he's brilliant. Shot himself in the foot,,, so he could "dis" the tea party.

I'm not sure if this is just stupid,,, a hood thing,,, an inexperience thing,,,, or just the mistakes of a political manchild,,, fumbleing his way down the path,, that he has no idea where it ends up. But since the smart white guys tell him his doing a good job,,,, he just keeps fumbling along.

I guess his hard core supporters,,, are just too easily manipulated behind their rose colored glasses.

1) Releasing a birth certificate to the public is not one of the requirements of running for president. The form he release WOULD be accepted for a passport from anyone who was born in the state of Hawaii. The only change he made was he blocked out the form number in the corner, as a measure of privacy.

Or do you mean the fact that it was a scanned image? Because, yes, it'd take a very lax bureaucrat to take a scan instead of a certified copy (i.e., the paper that the registrar in Hawaii gave him when he visited his grandmother in 2007).

2) The Teahadists called THEMSELVES "tea baggers" first. At a time when they were calling him every name under the sun (from lists conveniently provided by right-wing organizations, which were NOT, I repeat NOT, directing, organizing, or coordinating the movement at all... ), why shouldn't he use the nickname the Teapublicans chose for themselves?

Napa,,, you know the document he first put on line,,, that everyone pointed to as "THE DOCUMENT",,, was a certification of live birth,,, OHSM 1.1, (rev 11/01),,, which is just fine for establishing his birth in Hawaii.

However, in order to obtain a passport you must submit a long form certificate,, with the registor's name, etc....

which the White House did not release until APRIL OF 2011.

SO<,, I STAND BY MY PREVIOUS COMMENT.

(side bar,,, by now you should know,,, I am always right.)

As I said earlier, it's plain he was born American so lets put this non issue to bed. Why is this detracting from some very real criticisms we could focus on? Anyone beating this dead horse just loses credibility. I wish this crap would just go away. it's as boring as hearing that Hussain is his middle name. So friggin wat? Everyone in the WORLD knows his name and knows the birth non issue is resolved. Lets talk about the deficet that would be reduced to zero if every working person in america paid 600 dollars per month for ten years. But that's only if we didn't borrow any more money and only spent as much as we tax. Most Americans think we can trim fat in government and do it. Trim to the bone and you'll only reduce the deficet by 30 percent. That is, unless you want to end social security payments and close all government assistance programs. Well over half of all the taxes we pay GOES TO PAY THE INTEREST ON THE DEBT. And the people holding the debt are the Chinese and Arabs. What a sinkhole of shit. Why even think about birth certificates and middle names? And I can tell you all this right now. I'm not going to be able to pay my 600 per month for the next ten years.

the point was,,, is,,, and remains,,,,

his lack of judgement,,, demonstrated by holding onto his long form until April 2011,,, and going on National TV to call the teaparty,, tea baggers.

Both,, fueled division between himself and the conservatives,,, which he obviously did not care about since he had a majority in both the house and the senate. ie.. ARROGANT.

Now,,, that he does not have a democratic majority in the house,,,, his arrogant style and past sins,, are not making for any kind of team building, reaching across the asile, etc.

Shot himself in the foot,,, so he could "dis" the tea party.
