So yesterday was my moms Birthday. She turned 87, and we are very blessed to still have her. We went out for pizza, and a little playing (something she wanted to do.) My daughter had given her an orchid (her favorite, and a beautiful card. My gifts were the dinner, and the chocolate pie that she also wanted.
I wanted to do SO much more...but we were fortunate to do what we did, and she seemed to enjoy it. I wanted to whisk her away on some adventure of a lifetime, but it is not yet to be....although I am hoping that someday....
Anyway, it was a gorgeous day and one of many that we have had lately... with almost no snow this year. THAT is very rare for this part of the country. I hope mom lives to be at least 100. She says that 100 would be okay, lol.
For years, I thought I would never see my mother again, since she then lived far away, never answered my letters, and had her phone shut off because my sister did not pay her bill for her. Mom was living alone back then, and I was terrified, It turns out that I was right to be concerned. She started to have seizures, and my sister barely reacted in time. I knew then that mom just had to move here. So, a plan was developed, and the next time my niece came to visit, she brought her grandma with her.
Mom was very frail, at just 118 lbs. She had not been eating well, and there were SO many things that she needed to live more of a quality life. She needed eye surgery, a cane and walker, to be signed up for Medicare and Medicaid, a shower chair, and more. Well as soon as she arrived, I got to work, and now she has everything that I can give her, but not nearly what she deserves.
Happy Birthday Mom...we love you... I love you... and may you have many more birthdays!!
