Before even starting this blog, I want to add to the title that I am – quite obviously – not the only one. We are many who do never win (or so rarely that no one even notices).

Here are the reasons why:

- We are smart, but we don’t rub it in any opportunity we get
- We (the women) are quite pretty/beautiful, but we don’t wear clothes 3 sizes too small
- We do sports, but don’t sacrifice our whole life on its altar
- We are witty, but we don’t stuff it down your throat with every other sentence
- We are loyal, but most people wouldn’t even notice, because they want more than loyalty: they want blind adoration from humble subjects and slaves
- We are fine parents, but our kids only notice what we do NOT do for them
- We are kind and generous but we don’t advertise it, or everybody and his brother would try to take advantage
- We quietly excel at our jobs, but the bosses notice only the loudmouths
- We study hard at college, but there’s no way we’ll kiss a** to become the teachers’ pet

And so we are the A-student and worker, the wonderful mother, spouse, and friend, but we never win.
We never receive a medal, a special award, an extraordinary promotion, or at least an acknowledgement.

Life isn’t fair, and sometimes it totally sucks.

i'm confused...

how can someone who lives here...

Niue ( /'nju?e?/ new-ay; Niuean: Niue) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean. It is commonly known as the "Rock of Polynesia", and inhabitants of the island call it "the Rock" for short. Niue is 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mi) northeast of New Zealand in a triangle between Tonga to the southwest, the Samoas to the northwest, and the Cook Islands to the southeast. The land area is 260 square kilometres (100 sq mi) with about 1,400 people who are predominantly Polynesian.

Though self-governing, Niue is in free association with New Zealand, and lacks full sovereignty. All Niueans are New Zealand citizens and Queen Elizabeth II is Niue's head of state in her capacity as Queen of New Zealand. Most diplomatic relations are conducted by New Zealand on Niue's behalf. 90-95% of Niuean people live in New Zealand,[3] along with about 70% of the speakers of the Niuean language.[4]

In 2003, Niue became the world's first "Wi-Fi nation", in which free wireless Internet access is provided throughout the country by The Internet Users Society-Niue.[5]

Thank you, guys, I WISH....

I forgot to add:

- We don't receive extra service (like in customer service) because we don't yell at the employee who is answering the call
- We don't get served before others, at the restaurant, because we are not loud (but we do give tips...)
- We are not first in line because we don't step on other people's toes

It's not easy to be a decent person (or try to be one) and see those who don't hesitate to elbow their way through life always win.

Ha-ha....
Niue is my dream, my make-believe peaceful island, a retreat, a wish....

Alas, until I can retire to there, I still have quite a bit to do here...

Dear heart by your statements/descriptions alone.. how can you NOT feel like a WINNER. You certainly are. It doesn't always FEEL like that of course but it's true.

I suppose that depends upon how you define "winning".
Nonetheless, you've obviously won many friends on here.

I volunteered in youth sports and both Girl Scouting and Boy Scouting. I did it for 30 years actively. I'm still a Boy Scout Leader. In all that time I never had a kid come to me and say thanks. It was the reverse. All the kids I coached and taught outdoor skills loved to insult me. If I was using a hatchet they'd say, "Old guys are too shakey to use those." If I played guitar at the camp fire they said, "That aint Springstien." I knew it was just kidding and I knew it was because they liked me but a serious thank you would have been good.

Then one day at a Court of Honor for a new Eagle Scout he got up and told the younger Scouts, "There will come a time when you want to quit because it isn't cool. You'll feel embarrassed when you put on th uniform. You'll try to hide it from the guys at school. But don't quit. This year I went to the National Scout Jamboree and it was the best time I ever had. I learned everything I needed to know at these meetings and campouts. Some day you'll be happy you didn't drop out. I promise".

This kid had been a problem in his early teens. He'd been in trouble often and been a disruption that tried me greatly. But he came out of it and became the Senior Patrol Leader who ran the Scout Troop with only supervision from the adults. If I ever get a better thank you than that. I'll be surprised. Sometimes the thank you's come from left field but I'll take them. And sometimes we have to read between the lines.

Sorry, but your title is TOTALLY rediculous!

Re-read your own words and you will see WINNER plastered all over you!

I completely understand, tho...I see how well my kids have turned out and KNOW that I was responsible for that!

I hear you. You're the person who waits patiently in the line of cars in traffic, even though dozens of cars whiz by on the shoulder, snarling the mess up worse. It becomes tiresome and awfully frustrating...

Which is why I'm the one who veers just far enough into the shoulder to keep the line-cutters from getting by. What the hell...I'm insured...

You're a WINNER, just like these others here with their great comments!

I don't got no trophy... don't know where you get 'em... I always thought these trophies gets awarded all by themselves... but then, one day, when I was about 18, therebouts, and living at the deaf club, and one time I went for a walk in Leederville, on the this here road that led me up the hill, and I sees this strange place... it was FULL OF TROPHIES!

I stare, and stare and stare.... I'm thinking... "So that's where the trophies came from!"

So I can make any trophies I like, but what do you REALLY NEEDS? a Plane, is what, and why not? C'mon, everyone, pitch in, hire a plane, or better yet, BUY a plane, give it to her, and she and her baby boy can FLY to Niue island and no worries!

That's the distortion of the MD screen....

But besides the joke, I did not expect to be seen as a winner. I expected some help with my pity party alright, but not this!
