At halftime Mitt took a sizeable lead in debating by blitzing on defense and scoring big with some zingers ("my friend told me you're supposed to pick winners & losers, but you pick all losers") as well as a strong ground game, demonstrating bipartisan achievement in governing.
The Democratic ball handling was weak and fumbling was frequent. Indeed, it looked like management took the opponent for granted and was somewhat unprepared for the wildcat. It seemed that more of a prevent defense was utilized, rather than a focus on scoring.
The run up in scoring was further aided by the lack of flags for fouls for somewhat obvious illegal procedures, such as use of the "unelected committee deciding what medical procedures will be covered."
Also, both candidates should have been flagged for multiple clock violations.
Apparently, the replacement ref. decided to just let them play.
Nonetheless, the polls will probably close somewhat over the next week, with Mitt being in almost striking range, until the eventual realization that Mitt pulled a fast one by flip flopping on his previous stated plans.
Halftime entrtainment will be provided by 2 singers with feet in their mouths; Ryan & Biden.
The second half will provide quite entertaining. I predict a much more focused and well planned offense by the president. Apparently, he did not have as much respect for how smooth a used car salesman Mitt is. Mitt didn't talk venture capitalists out of $ Millions, because he's not a good talker.
Nonetheless, the second half MIGHT decide the final outcome, especially if a lot more fumbling by the president occurs.

Mitt Romney Holds His Own Against Barack Obama in First Presidential Debate by Howard Kurtz Oct 3, 2012 10:35 PM EDT Romney turns in a more energetic performance than the president but spends more time playing defense. Howard Kurtz on the wonkfest in Denver.
DENVER—Barack Obama and Mitt Romney forcefully clashed over their contrasting economic views in their first debate Wednesday night, with the challenger displaying more energy and crispness than the languid and long-winded president. It was a serious, respectful, somewhat wonky debate, notably devoid of zingers or dramatic moments, with Obama consistently more aggressive in challenging his opponent over his proposed tax cuts and slashes in domestic spending.
Stylistically, Romney came on strong, showing a confident command of facts and figures even as he tried to moderate or distance himself from some of his proposals. He also made direct eye contact with the camera while Obama often seemed to be looking down, never adjusting his intensity and acting like he was at a garden-variety news conference.
On substance, though, Romney spent more of his time on the defensive, responding to Obama’s insistence that he would favor the wealthy and cause “severe hardship” for the middle class. It is hard to score points when the other side is calling the plays.
If the spin alley here was any indication, the Romney camp was far more pleased with its man’s performance. Even while Romney delivered his closing statement, Rudy Guiliani told reporters that his candidate had scored a “knockout” and the president “looked confused, like he was searching for his teleprompter.” Top adviser Eric Fehrnstrom declared that “if this was a boxing match, it would have been called about an hour into the fight.” Marco Rubio and other GOP surrogates dominated the room.
Ten minutes later, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina appeared more robotic, saying Romney had “a good night on style points.” He argued that “the president was more likable tonight. Romney was testy.”

In as much as Romney had just stated that Obama was wrong in what he said, that he would not do anything tax cuts etc that would cause the deficit to rise. Obama went right back to and Romney will cut 5 trillion in taxes, and raise the defense budget 2 trillion, I think Mitt must have thought Barack didn't hear him the first two times.

This form of entertainment and for that matter the whole presidential campaign costs American a lot of money. Wouldnt it be better to use those wasted funds to right off some of the debt that your grandkids and great grandkids must pay?

Ryan v. Biden is going to be over the top....however....i want Jon Stewart to moderate a discussion / debate with the 2 prez. candidates [ incld. Roseanne Barr and the Incumbent.....i would shell out 75.33 in silver coin to see that.
