Yes, that's right, Canada is #1. Of course, we Canadians always knew that, but unlike our southern compatriots, we're a little more self-effacing and don't usually feel the need to brag. I'll make an exception and do the bragging for the rest of my country.

Lonely Planet named Canada the number 1 travel destination in the world this year. And isn't that just befitting seeing as it's also our 150th year anniversary? Sure, our deflated Canadian dollar certainly helps those with a stronger currency, so yes, your dollar goes further. But even without that extra bonus, the diversity of natural beauty across our wonderful nation is truly a sight to behold.

Beautiful British Columbia is not entitled that for nothing. BC contains, without a doubt, some of the most gorgeous and varied terrain within her provincial borders. These contrasting landscapes can be found within hours or minutes drive within Vancouver and it's suburbs.

The numerous photos I've posted on fb, the most common comments are - wow - you truly live in a beautiful place. Yes, I'm so fortunate that I do. Vancouver's Stanley Park was named the #1 park in the world last year and has been high on the list for several years.

As an amateur photographer, I'm always impressed with the incredible photos that more experienced photographers capture. It's no wonder this is considered a photographer's paradise. I can honestly say that there isn't a day I go out with my camera that I don't find something to record.

It's nice to see Canada's name as a #1 destination. We've always known so, but like so many things, it sometimes takes the rest of the planet to catch up.

Here's to being # 1

Seriously though..I have been to Niagra Falls numerous times and one of my favorite places to visit during the summer.Every visit I rent a car and drive into Canada for relaxing cruises of the Canadian country side, where there are lots of unique little towns and folks.
I would love to someday see the territory of British Columbia, the snow capped mountains, the rain forrest and the abundance of wildlife.

Nice blog..I enjoyed watching you brag of being # 1

Congratulations it's a beautiful place. I liked that photo looking down on Vancouver. Now is a good time for your book to get published as renewed interest in visiting different places in Canada will happen as a result of this announcement

I love Montreal and Quebec City. Also visited the Canadian side of Glacier National Park. Very beautiful.

Nice blog and some great images!

But, during the cold months, I figure traveling North to Canada from the states, is like going from the refrigerator to the freezer seems to me!

I've been to British Columbia, nice country there but the trip was spoiled because I had a service call somewhat North of Vancouver on some manufacturing equipment and ended up having to deal with a loose cannon for a customer! He mortgaged his house, bought really cheap used equipment and got what he paid for! It was a nightmare!! Was glad to finally leave!

I've learnt a new trick, how to use color...not really wanting to comment ...just do a bit of showing off....hope you don't mind. I'll give you a kudo though, for dropping by on your blog and not contributing.

Once word gets out and the new president elect is inaugurated,
you can expect a massive US emigration to Canada.

I not only love your blog but all the comments as well and Northern makes me laugh out loud.

My BFF and her young stud just went to visit your country for a week or so recently and I can tell it was an amazing visit by the pics she posted on FB and the gazillion she texted to me. She had a great vacation. If ever I get back to Canada it won't be in the winter.

I wouldn't doubt that we just have the best tourist traps here.
