After the most humiliating string of losses in the history of politics the Democrats STILL have not figured it out. They missed their best and only chance to cooperate with Republicans, who reached out a helping hand to the Democrats, to try to help them escape the political death knell of impending Obamacare collapse and now they will have to come back begging President Trump and the Republicans to let them repeal and replace it to avoid complete implosion of their party.

The Democrats seem to STILL not get that they OWN Obamacare and the anger of every victim of this catastrophic legislation who will be clamoring to vote against Democrats come the midterm elections. Not a single Republican voted for Obamacare. It was a 100% product of the Democrats. And now it is about to come to a dramatic and explosive ending leaving the entire health care system in chaos in spite of the Republicans efforts to prevent that from happening. Seeming to never learn their lesson, in an apparent political death wish, AGAIN the Democrats have doubled down on their losing strategy and will pay the price in the voting booths. These people are lost.

I was under the impression that Republicans were in charge, and I happen to know it was them who blocked this bill.

You're right! When I said I would repeal and replace Obamacare, I REALLY meant I would draft an awful bill that everyone hates, including the right wing of my own party, and fail to pass it.

It's all part of my ingenious plan to defeat the Democrats by losing every legislative battle.

Clearly, you have not read the CBO scoring of the Ryan bill. The ACA is not in free fall and we've even had individuals in health insurance indicate that they had tried to use that rhetoric to push through mergers they knew the FTC would not sanction.

The process Ryan employed to push through repeal and replace was problematic from the first. He didn't allow the committee process to truly work. He handed the Republicans a bill and said force it through the Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees all without a CBO score.

Trump promised better health care for all... And cheaper. He said the government would pay for it.

He did not deliver on that promise.........

He lied. He told people what they wanted to hear.
But you'll defend him till the end! You are far too arrogant to ever admit you were wrong about the clown that lied to you all....

Congressional Republicans met the evening before President Obama's first inauguration and plotted how to defeat him legislatively. Paul Ryan was a part of that meeting. They also worked to defeat those remaining House Republicans who had a track record of working across the aisle. And now you expect cooperation? Republicans should not have made cooperation and bipartisanship bad words!

A couple of salient points.......Rather than taking a more prudent path we saw the democrats gloating over their purported victory, as to be expected. Projecting a win they unwisely heralded it under the guise of claiming it as a 'win for the American people'. Nothing could be farther from the truth. And having Pelosi as the face of their party continues to pay unending dividends for the Republican party.

From another perspective why is it that they exhaust all their efforts in fighting one man rather then a more productive pursuit of offering ANY suggestions on how they might improve Obamacare. They haven't any that I've heard. No, their only goal is to get Trump, not do something positive for the country. Naturally they say getting Trump is the problem but thats not what the people want. (Yawn....enter the majority rant as opposed to the populism fact). Obamacare will fail, and democrats will ultimately take the hit in 2018. And that's as it should be.

Hello ^^ wasn't it the rethuglicans job to put forth a healthcare bill themselves, you guys have had 8 years and you still spend all your effin time whining about Democrats. That's why I know nothing will be done.,. except damage during the next 4 years. All you can do is sit in judgement but offer not one solution.

You are so right, small-hands! Just like you were right in confidently predicting that I would repeal Obamacare, which, as DiamondRain points out, I did do by failing to do it. Because losing is winning, and we all know I win like a loser.

Trump can blame the Democrats all he wants. The fact of the matter is that the Republican passed rules of the House prohibit a bill coming to the House floor that does not have a majority of the majority party. Therefore, a Speaker, who is in charge of what bill comes to the floor for a vote, cannot bring a bill to the floor if he/she does not have a majority of his/her party in line to vote for the bill, even if votes from the opposition party would be sufficient to ensure passage.

The 31 Republican members of the House Freedom Caucus, despite arm twisting from Ryan and the President, remained resolute in their opposition to the bill. Members of the Freedom Caucus were joined by more moderate Republicans, like Lance of New Jersey, who indicated they would not vote for the bill. Lance, who was one of 15 Republicans to personally receive arm twisting from the president, indicated he was thinking about voting no before the meeting and convinced to vote no after his meeting with the president.

President Trump promised to try to repeal Obama care. and fulfilled his promise. Now, President Trump is off the hook of the promise.

His attempt was blocked, so now the failing Obamacare is on the heads of the Democrats and those Republicans who voted with the Dems.

ACA probably won't be voted out. It will probably die as more and more insurance companies withdraw, and the remaining companies gouge deeper and deeper.

So as you write bigger and bigger checks for ACA each year, thank Pelosi and her crew, including a few renegades.

Well the people will have to wait for four years and then the Democrats will be back in power to fix it. If Trump allows the national healthcare to fail it is his head that will roll and the rethuglicans are history.

Trump shouldn't expect the Dems to fix the healthcare bill under his watch. The rethuglicans are gonna have prove their metal now.

We will see what the midterm elections will bring.

Trump squandered an opportunity to be bipartisan. He could have led with the infrastructure bill, but Ryan was so cocksure he'd win on healthcare, he put that pesky reconciliation instructions in his budget resolution and now his hands are tied on tax reform as well. Way to go, Mr. Speaker!

The fact of the matter is that the Republican passed rules of the House prohibit a bill coming to the House floor that does not have a majority of the majority party.

East, I think you are referring to the Hastert Rule, which is not actually a formal policy rule. My opinion is that in order for healthcare to pass and actually make sense for average Americans, they are going to have to get Democratic support. Trump eluded to that yesterday in the post debacle talk with the press.

As a Republican, what happened over the last few weeks has been an embarrassment. They were wanting to replace a terrible healthcare plan with one that might have been even worse. It was refreshing, that at least a few Republicans realized this and stood their ground.

It doesn't now, nor did it make sense seven years ago, that one party could come up with a plan that would appease enough people to actually be successful. Basically, the Republicans are making the same mistakes the Democrats made.

The ACA is not in free fall

You do stand up comedy now?

Watch this...

And since this video there is now a list of places that have NO insurers where people can get Obamacare anymore. And that list is growing by the day.

The Affordable Care Act is neither affordable NOR care.

Just because you have a card in your pocket that says that you are "covered" doesn't mean it will help you one single bit. With deductibles of $10,000 or $12,000 a year, people end up paying the premiums and then find that their Obamacare so-called "insurance" doesn't cover one penny of their health care expenses. And they can't afford the $10,000 or $12,000 a year. So under Obamacare they are paying for NOTHING.

Obamacare is a scam. It punishes the many to help the few. And the victims of Obamacare know it.

Hey Wolf36 the Republicans have had 8 years to work on their own healthcare bill, for all that time they criticized Obamacare why were they not working on something better? You guys are incorrigible, seriously.

The rethuglicans should stop crying and sit their asses down with big pharma and thrash out an affordable bill that Trump promised the people. You can't be condemning your opposition and expect them to do your work, surely? Who is in charge of the house, the senate and the white house for gods sake... with the help of the Russians of course. Perhaps Trump should ask Putin for help.

Sad! No Democrats voted for this bill!

But here's what I can't figure out. Republicans refused to vote for ObamaCare, but it passed anyway. Could it be that when you have the majority, you're supposed to be able to pass bills that the minority party opposes? Could it be that Paul Ryan is a weak Speaker?

Nah, that can't be it. I'll bet Obama hacked Congress to get it passed. Yeah, lhats got to be it! Get me my phone, I'm going to tweet this!

This ignores the fact that when Obamacare was passed the Democrats had a SUPERmajority in Congress not just a majority. That means with the two "independents" (which is another name for a liberal Democrat) who voted for Obamacare in the Senate along with every Democrat they had an unstoppable 60 vote majority needed to prevent a filibuster without a single Republican vote.

The Republicans don't have a SUPERmajority in Congress. They only have a simple majority. They cannot ram ANYTHING through in the middle of the night without any input from the other party like the Democrats did when they created Obamacare.

Wow. Even I know that in the House of Representatives it only takes a simple majority to pass a bill, and I'm the dumbest President ever elected.

It's the Senate that has the filibuster, and this bill never even made it to the Senate.
Winglets

Mar 25 @ 4:56PM
They rushed this bill because they wanted the tax savings from it to get on with tax reform. Until the healthcare bill is functional the rethuglicans will waste their time with everything else, because there is no money, the US is broke. If they want to take money from Peter to pay Paul they better make sure that Peter is flush.
DonaldSlump

Mar 25 @ 4:59PM
That's a good point, Winglet. It took Obama and the Democrats a year to pass Obamacare. Me and Paul Ryan managed to completely screw up an effort to repeal it in less than two months! Damn, we're good!

I know why these Republicans voted against the bill, People actually showed up at their office with the message, Mess with my healthcare and you will be voted out in the next election, Nothing like the threat of losing your cushy job with benefits to make even a right winger see the light on legislation and how they should vote,
