Once again I am going to blog on this subject. I am doing so due to a comment made on my previous blog on domestic violence. I have then decided to share my story for it is different then the norm and I have survived intact and stronger then before.

I fell in love with a man seven years my junior. It made no difference to us, but his parents were not so happy about us getting married. Just before we married I was on a pool league and we won that night so I had ONE drink. My fiance' came in after work and found out I had a drink and thus he got drunk and did so very quickly. To make a long story short, he suddenly became violent and pulled me out of the truck by my hair and slugged me in the face. Then he left me stranded in the country on a winter night. I had a broken nose. Well, the next day he said he was sorry and promised to never drink or hit me again. I believed him. And he never did drink again.

So we got married with just my children in attendance. It was a nice little ceremony, but no sooner did we say "I do" and he was ornery and demanded the children not attend the dinner we planned at the restaurant. He had such a fit my Maid of Honor gave in to him and drove them home. What did I do? I blamed it all on him being nervous about getting married and the hassle he had with his parents not wanting it to happen. They had told him I was just getting married to him for his money. What that statement wound up doing was making this very kind, once gentle and giving man, stingy and mean towards me and my children. But of course it all happened gradually for I worked and had child support to take care of our needs.

Did not know this was needed yet... Flags were up already besides the broken nose...
