I occasionally ask women I talk to if they are romantic. It always amuses me how differently they answer. The word "romantic" suggests very different meanings to different people. Most of the ladies I ask, equate the word to some aspect of sexuality or of love. One very typical answer that I get to the question is "I can be with the right person"
Romance is so much bigger than that! The knight in shining armor along with Chivalry (which is alive and well), a love for nature, of candles, starlit skies, a full moon, or of quiet times; all these are elements of romance. Romantic is not a feeling but a state of being. Poetry can be romantic. Words which flow with the rythm of a heartbeat or which whisper through the cedar branches like a soft breeze... " that's what I'm talkin' about!"

You summed it all up in your blog. I had squelched my romantic tendencies for so long dealing with real life...I had forgotten that part of me and how much of ME it really is...thanks for the reminder.

You are so right. So many people link being a romantic with the aspect of sex or love. I consider myself a romantic. I love to sit outside at night and look at the stars and the moon. No one is with me. I think it's romantic. I am also the type the gives those little notes to that significant other as well. Romance is so many things. It's in what you write or the way that you say something. It's in a glance or in a smile or a thought. If people really stopped and thought about it......sex or love never becomes romantic until those little details are added, candles, wine, a look, a whispered word, music, poetry, flowers, etc. A true romantic does "everything" from the heart, right down to the smallest of things.
