From time to time I have noticed people blogging about things that were going on in the forum feature of MD. I've only recently started to follow and contribute to some of the forum topics, so I had little, if any, awareness of what to expect overall. I was trying to follow a forum topic on “conversation” the other night. The original question was eloquently worded and thought provoking, and some of the responses just as eloquent, thoughtful and enlightening. I was really enjoying myself and thinking about posting some thoughts myself... About that time, a few people started a whole other level of “personal” conversation: postings that were completely off topic, disruptive, and put up to feed and/or clobber various egos. This went on for some time - a serious reply or response, followed by a bunch of off topic chatter suited to personal email, and then maybe one or two more on-topic responses - so that I was forced to edit out all the chaff to make any sense of the real "conversation." How frustrating! And after a while I moved on.
Yeah, OK, everyone wants attention; and it’s not the end of the world to interrupt a conversation, but the “Look at me! Look at me! Here I am! I’m gonna get the last word!” nature of most of these was juvenile – and a bore for anyone else. The irony of this taking place in the midst of people bemoaning the give and take and exchange of meaningful dialogue... well, you see my point.
Perhaps MD could create a “Here I Am, Look At Me” feature to indulge these people… Oh, wait, they already have; they’re called “profiles,” “chat rooms” and “blogs!”

Yes, and the Disrupter Demons tend to follow each other around in packs, so when one shows up in the thread, two or three more appear shortly...

I agree. It seems blogging became quite popular when pictures were attached and put on the front page. Nothing to say...just look at me. I like reading blogs but I like substance does not matter what kind just more than junk. I want to learn more about the person and B.S. does not say it...ooppss maybe it does.

You make a good point. I have just started to look at forums myself.
It doesnt suprise me a bit that people would act the way you describe.
Most are rude kids who are bored and want to ruin a good thing.
Sort of like graffiti you will find it in every culture and country. Good blog. But then i never disagree with anything you say. You can do no wrong.lol hugs paul

Don't Feed The Trolls! That's exactly why I don't post in forums and only in blogs where I can approve/disapprove remarks.
The 'Pack Hunters' are always lurking and waiting to pounce.
That's the reason why I'm not going to the Las Vegas Bash in February...and I live in Vegas.

O and one more thing. I have read the forums here, I was reminded of high school and the cliques that existed. I found many threads are visited by people who know each other quite well. I did not feel comfortable trying to stick myself where I know I would be an outsider. I find that in the chat room as well. I guess if I hang around long enough I could be on the inside but honestly the insides sucks as far as I am concerned. It is on the outside where all substance lies.

Red tiger....a very good blog and you say it just like it is. I enjoy reading well thought out subject matter, posted in the forum threads and agree...the juvenile comments could be directed to emails to the friends pack....it is very disrupting to the flow of the intent of the thread. Some do prefer adult interaction and exchange of ideas and the sharing of experience, but it gets lost in the games some people continually need to play.
