Having returned home from a short but very lovely visit with my daughter-in-law's family, my mind rejoices in all the good things that took place today, yesterday, and for that matter many, many, many years of my life (and while we are on the subject of many, many, many mores... I gotta hand it to the MD buggers.. they are johnny-on-the spot to add another one of the years to your profile let me tell you.. they coulda waited for say, like 10 years to age me another, but nnnnnoooooo).
After I posted my morning blog here, I set about doing some last minute things before getting dressed to visit. Last evening, (very late last evening [this mind of mine never really knows when to use the shut off switch at times]) I opened my regular emails and among all the ads for viagra, cialis, invitations from lovely ladies that want to .. well, you get the jist.. I saw "IT".. an email from a friend that I hadn't heard from in like months. Granted, the sheaaatt sent me a standard generic, to all the people in his address book, Christmas greeting, but there is something to be said about ease and comfort levels that magically happen when two like souls meet. There is never a strain for conversation, never an empty space between thoughts being exchanged, etc.
And, yea, I know you are all saying .. "for Gawd's sake, Carol, get a hold of yourself, it was a GENERIC email".. but, see, I read so much in between those typed lines. And the pictures he sent of himself and his daughter standing by their tree, and the one of his furry bud...(whom I felt an instant sharing of the chagrin the ole boy himself must have felt sitting in the snow donning a red felt reindeer antler strung with miniature lights..oh the shame of it all, and for what -- a treat???)
I read the happiness that he possesses, the devilish antics he often reverts to, and even though the words in the email were generic and were meant to catch everyone in his address book up on a year's worth of his life in one fell swoop, I laughed!!!
His comical and obliquely obtuse prose always sent my inners to giggling, and this one did not sway from that course at all. I quickly penned one of my (and now I know this is gonna shock many of ya... ) smart-arsed replies to him. I spoke of how I had missed his furry face (he sports a very nice beard and full head of hair), his ramblings whereby he pens words that make even him sit back and belly laugh when he proof reads. I told him how nice it was to find an email from a friend in my inbox and exchanged some musings of my own about life on my humble small farmette. That was the end of my evening and after I finished the return non-generic email, I slept well.
But as I was dressing for my visit today, my phone rang. I have caller ID.. I know, I know, the woman (as my son keeps telling me this over and over) who fights technology tooth and nail has caller ID.. go figure)...and I looked at it quickly. Annuder big, big smile.. it was the emailer himself!!! Seems my smart-arsed reply sent giggles to him also.. though he dare not admit to giggling.. what do men call it... ah yessss.. guffaws, snorts, chuckles (belly laughs) he called to make up for the generic email. We talked about how neither of us can hide behind any false identity or put on airs as "we just ain't no Sean Connery type actors".. and this my friends is great.. we are always ourselves.. ALWAYS!!! We caught up on family, work, life, and what the future may hold.
Ah, life.. sometimes the best laid plans .. work!!! *winkey, winkey, winkey*
With that I leave you, my udder pals and friends with a link to a cute, albeit very, very different version of Ring Christmas Bells... and with a nod and a wink, I am so outta here... auf weirdershein (didn't have time to spell check....take it for what it is):

I read this and smiled.........I sent a email Christmas card out to a man that I have missed very much and it was very generic so as not to intimitate, lol. When I heard back from him it was wonderful, than he called. Yes I smiled when the caller ID showed me it was him,WOW! We spent the next day together with no expectations and had a wonderful time. Best Christmas present I got just spending time with a man I enjoyed.

Very nice blog and I loved the Christmas Bells!!! Very cute!
It's really wonderful that at Christmas time we sometimes are able to connect with old friends.... but why do we wait until this holiday to do that!? Whatever the reason, glad it worked for you and that you received that great Christmas gift of friendship!

I've read between the lines here....lol... , but I'll keep my thoughts to myself on this one. Or not. He sounds like you Carol. By that I mean a 'like spirit'. I'm smiling, cuz maybe he's the one you'll trip and scrap your nose over... and we all know that usually happens when we least expect it.
As always your enthusiasm flows over into MD, leaving beautiful bubbles everywhere!!!
