I guess some of us are giving a sigh of relief as the holidays come to a close. But there is pleasure in the madness... These past few months have had thier moments to be sure. I guess that is where the saying comes from, "The greater the high, the further the fall" But then again, for all I know that saying could be based on some kind of drug or something
As I recently told a friend on this site, a lot of things do tend to work out in the end. Not always as we expected, but I guess what would be the challenge and fun in that
The good thing is I have my job back and I was comforted that although I felt like a whipped dog begging for a bone, my employers never made me feel that way and were excited that I was not going to leave after all. One of the bosses pointed out that I would have to change my attitude of procrastinators (something the office is well known for and something that has been one of my hardest obstacles to accept); But if the usual pattern of procrastination had not been followed, my job would not have been available. So I bow to the masters of procrastination on this one
Vacation and those "extra days" were not a total loss. I got to play with the dogs, work around the house and yard and all those cold days my favorite novel was pulled out of the files and is over half way done. By half way done, I don't mean written - the writing of it is almost as old as my son, but it was pretty rough draft with some pages typed, some hand written and even a few pages on paper towels (you writers know what I mean, when you HAVE to write, you HAVE to write)!!
So maybe it's sort of back on the back burner but hey, I'm back on the job and this time I will keep it on the desk on a reminder to work on it here and there. Everything has a plus, and every challenge and hardship has a purpose.
Okay, I admit that I don't exactly see the "silver lining in the cloud" in some of my latest "adventures", but I believe there has to be a reason and some good is meant to come... And I guess as long as we can believe that we can continue moving forward - and that's got to be better than just standing still!!!
I hope everyone had great holidays and the new year holds only the best for all of us. So until next time...
