The Scots-Irish have been persecuted and forced into slavery longer than any other race or ethnicity on Earth. Yet this is not taught in American schools, or, indeed, in most schools anywhere.
Children are taught about the African slave trade and if they hear anything about the Scots or the Irish in connection with it, they hear about the few who were slave owners - and that number is always greatly magnified - but never about the thousands and thousands who were stolen from their homes and families, enslaved, bred with the blacks to produce a better stock, and worked to death, as well as horribly tortured, in ways that the blacks seldom were. Black slaves costed more, and they were easier to spot in a crowd; therefore they were treated far better than the white slaves and granted more freedom.
This does not negate the horror that the black slaves endured but next time you read of it, try to remember that there were white slaves who were not allowed anywhere near the freedom or creature comforts and for most there is not even the justice that comes, as little as it is, of their existence having been recorded as a rememberance of their plight.
And try to remember, which is the larger point, that when you feel as if you cannot get a break, that you cannot win against the prejudice in the world, that the Scots are, despite all the loss and suffering over all the centuries, one of the largest races on the entire planet.
"The Man" cannot hold you down until and unless you stop struggling. It doesn't have to be an all out war, thogh; not usually. Sometimes it is just a matter of refusing to believe it when you are told what you cannot do.

Well, my original informaton sources were family members and neighbors who were Scottish and/or Irish. After that, let's see .. hmm
Well, I quoted a few sources within the blog. There is also a great book called 'How The Irish Became White' which I have not even managed to get hold of .ong enough to read all of, yet.
Sometimes if you are studying one aspect of history, too, you may see things that people are not as aware of having let slip; probably because they are busy trying to cover something else up lol
There are quite a few good links via the internet which will tell you much of what I have quoted and shared, plus more. Just google and look up things like "white slavery" or "Scottish slavery"

As I am 1/2 Scottish ancestry, I've known the information in this excellent blog for years...
I know some might not like this but......
Part of the reason this isn't widely taught and/or known is that the Scots/Irish don't have the PR machine in place that blacks and jews do....
Scots/Irish by and large have gotten over it and long ago moved on to living life in the present, not dwelling on and continually harping about the past, though they would certainly be justified to do so...

I will ask my friend Head of Department, she has a son in an Irish school, II think it is not taught in many schools, but since I have never been to school in Scotland I could not really say. I am quite sure they are less likely to teach it now simply because such ugly truths could be a great hindrance in an alliance between Britain and America.
I do know, at least, that a lot of the ugliness written of in history books, regarding why there even was a Revolution, is greatly whitewashed now. They practically make it sound like America was created on a lark and with the Crowns full permission and funding. It's disgusting!
History is written by the winners of wars, the conquerors, the enslavers, and it is told as they wish to tell it, in general. I've met a lot of persons from Scotland and Ireland who had no clue that they used to be the same people, they all wore kilts, and they had the same tradtions.
Of course there are also a lot of Chinese and Japanese who also don't know that about each other.
Yet, as long as there are survivors of persecution or witnesses of same, there will always be another side of the story and regardless of revision the truth will out. And I think it should be outed; not to cause division but to encourage understanding and acceptance.

Scots/Irish by and large have gotten over it and long ago moved on to living life in the present, not dwelling on and continually harping about the past, though they would certainly be justified to do so... Okay, but this is part of my point: I do not think the PR machines belong to blacks and jews .. well, you know, maybe some of them are involved but it was not them choosing to oppress the facts regarding slavery and persecution. They were not in charge of the slavery or the persecution or the record keeping of the slave ships, plantations, or death camps!
Some of the Scots and Irish know at least some of the truth, yes. Many of their descendants in America, however, do not .. not even close. And either do the descendants of the black slaves.
So there is one group experiencing this "white guilt" over something they shouldn't even be feeling guilty about because of the revisionist historian rhetoric that teaches that white ancestors owned slaves and black ancestors were slaves and it was always the fault of the whites.
And there is this other group flailing about, many of them, not being able to get past this lie that's fed to them that tells them "You are the oppressed. You are the ones out of all the earth that no one else ever ever liked unless you were picking cotton." For instance!
It's a lot of unnecessary hurt, hatred, cruelty, and misunderstanding. A lot of stupid pride of persons who think they are better than others and a lot of stupid pride of persons who think they are the only ones who survived that sort of treatment.
And oh honey, we havent' even started on the Chinese and the American Indians yet!

Scots/Irish by and large have gotten over it and long ago moved on to living life in the present, not dwelling on and continually harping about the past, though they would certainly be justified to do so... Two more points
1 ) They also did not have control of the school systems in America or Britain and no black people, especially as a group, are noted for having beaten the Scots or the Irish and forcing them to learn a new language or abandon their own language, history, and traditions. As far as I know, either are any of the Jews.
2) I think it is precisely because many Scots and Irish, despite the propoganda that says different, do know a little of their own race/ethnicities oppression that they were able to quit dwelling on it, harping about it, etc.
That and the fact that no one ever started a major world wide campaign to keep them believing they were the only ones it ever happened to and that there is no hope for them.
I believe for many white persons, the key to removing their prejudice against other races is in learning that they were also, ethnically speaking, slaves and serfs and peasants and whores and whatever else bad could be said about any other ethnicity you care to describe.
I believe that the key for removing a lot of the feeling of being hated, or oppressed, for all races and ethnicities, is to realize that they were not, ethnically speaking, the only slaves and serfs and peasants and whores and whatever else bad could be said about any ethnicity you care to desribe.
Who are you more likely to believe and want to be around? Someone who says "You oppressed me" (or conversely "We oppressed you") or "My ancestors were also oppressed" ?
Someone who says "It never happened to you." (or conversrely "It never happened to us") or someone who says "I understand: it happened to my people too."?

however as long as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others of the racebait for profit ilk, and the JDL, are continually paraded in front of the American People for the "black perspective" and the "Jewish perspective", the myths, and the divisive ramifications of them, will live on....

however as long as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others of the racebait for profit ilk, and the JDL, are continually paraded in front of the American People for the "black perspective" and the "Jewish perspective", the myths, and the divisive ramifications of them, will live on.... Granted but .. what you are saying is just another facet of the same propoganda. ... they are only teaching and preaching what they learned themselves and unless you can prove they had control of all the newspapers, printing presses, schools, radio and televison stations, etc. throughout history, you can't say it's their fault ... . that's all there was to learn.
Yes, strangely enough ( I say facetiously) a lot of blacks and Jews had ancestors that tended to focus on the oppression and persecution of their own people instead of other people. Well, and after the slaves were freed, black people were a lot easier to spot and continue picking on too! They have had it worse at times. Just not as often as they have been led to believe and not necessarily worse over all.
And what was said in my blog about how the black slaves treated the white slaves: that was fairly well reversed later. Many freed Scots and Irish went on to commit horrendous atrociites aganst the blacks, as well as the Chinese, the American Indians, and anyone else they could get their hands on. All in the name of proving they were part of the Great White Race.
Yet none of that negates the facts of their oppression and enslavement, either. I am not writing this to negate the experiences of any race at any time in history. It's all bad. But ...
The majority of the oppression of information was by the English. Not black persons or Jewis in England but real white English people. Who also did most of the exterminating of the Irish and Scots.
And by the way, when I say "the English" that goes for the descendants of same. and that includes a lot of white people in America. But not by any means all of them. Not even close to all of them. And not only them.
We are all in this together, all of us having in our racial history, both persecutors and persecuted.

and my brother in law lost some ancestors the Civil War...where are HIS reparations??? Not really a valid argument : everyone who had any family here lost ancestors in the Civil War Maybe not direct ascendants, but definitely family. That's why there should be no reparation.
However, I don't think there should be any, anyhow unless someone has a clear cut, well documented case. The reparation from the United States Government came in the form of changing laws, protection at various times, Affirmative Action, etc. And as far as I'm concerned, that's all the reparation there should be, if that much.
Do you know what I saw watching the news in regards to New Orleans? Mostly a bunch of people, regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity, who couldn't pull their heads out of their ass long enough to figure out how to walk out of a town when danger was coming. It was sad and, globally speaking, embarrasing.
The Government, I shall tell people and hope they don't die of shock, is for the people, of the people, and by the people (not necessarily in that order): You know what this means???
It means that we are all in this together, even if you don't like the skin color of the person next to you or ... whatever ...
It means that if you are a racist bastard that won't give someone a job based on their ethnicity, then you have no right to complain when your house is robbed or you are mugged on the street or someone knocks on the door asking for charity donations.
It means when the Government is not there as it's just had it's ass kicked by a tornado, then you are the closest thing to it and you'd better organize your asses and fix the problem as best as you can .. or walk to where the Government is most likely to be found.
And it means that all of us belong to a group, if not several groups at once, that have gotten their collective asses kicked, killed, or enslaved by at least one other group which we may or may not also be part of. You can't be proud of all your ancestors or all the ones of your friends. . sorry .. that's life .. look back to what you can't be proud of as a caution, a tempering of emotion, and look back what you can be proud of and just be proud of that. It's just that simple!

" Press Gangs " It's euphamistic! A "press gang" is about pressing people into service. But, of course, in general that means into military service. However, you could also call any old slaver the boss of a "press gang" as he is snatching people up and pressing them into service.
The actual slavery didn't happen until they were sold, after all. When they were snatched up, they weren't slaves, just captives. But it was for the intention of selling them cheaply, knowing that they would be ill treated and almost certainly not survive long; and however long they did survive, they'd never be allowed their freedom.
