Just went grocery shopping today. Going to make my home-made chicken and dumplings tonight. It's a specialty - one that I only make on special occasions. However, seein' as my aunt is here, I thought what the hell, it's a special occasion! 
Now I spoke to Ben a couple days ago, and he pointed out that the only other member of my family that he's ever met is my dad, so he told me he really wanted to meet my aunt. Thus, I told him he was invited to come on over when I make the chicken and dumplings, but I'll have to let him know when that'll be. So now that I know, I'll *try* to invite him over to come eat dinner with us tonight – that is if I can get ahold of him (Please see February 20th, Like Pulling Teeth blog and you'll know just what I'm mean!).

Unicorn, the one's I make are with flour tortillas! And they're really good too! My Mom's recipe!  My mouth's watering just thinking about it.
Metry, you're so right! It's been so long since I've had some real jambalya or gumbo that I miss it so.  Hell, I even miss being able to order dirty rice at Popeyes. *sighs* I'm afraid you can't find that stuff down here in SoFla.

Next time you're in New Orleans, we'll make sure you're fed good....but you already knew that. I guess I won't tell ya I had a fried shrimp po-boy for lunch yesterday....oops...just did. Ok, I'm sorry. That was just plain mean.
I bet you can get a pretty darn good Cuban Sandwich down there.

Well, rub it in, why doncha!  That's okay, the cuban sandwiches and the black beans and rice are to die for.. but then again, nothing can quite take the place of a po-boy... or red beans and rice with anduille sausage.
Geez with all this talk of food, I'm liable to just decide to have the dumplings for lunch.

The minute you mentioned inviting Ben, all I could think of was "good luck getting ahold of him" --- and don't be surprised if the li'l ol' lady thinks the invitation is for her
Now c'mon, you've GOT to share, please! How in the world do you make chicken and dumplings with tortillas? I don't think they even do that out here, where tortillas are an everyday staple. 
(And I hope your aunt sees that your dad's doing just fine...especially with you there to keep an eye on him )

yeah you need to give up on the recipe.. I have had chicken and dumpling is many ways but never with tortillas... Yummm a good meal when the weather is cool like it is today....
