Sometimes I comment to blogs and when I hit sent it just flips back to their blog and isn't taking my comment. Is anyone else having that problem or could it be my computer or this internet I just got? It takes them sometimes. I don't think it's because they have to be approved because in that case I usually get a comment saying they are waiting for approval...

Sometimes people don't authorize comments at all. It may be a default MD setting that they haven't changed. Or it may be that the blogger just doesn't want any comments. I myself, make a mental note to avoid their blogs in the future.

I think the person who posted the blog has there setting so that no one can comment so it would act as you are describing.

Thanks Gambler, I didn't realize that people could or would chose to receive no responses at all. I think that just kind of defeats the purpose of blogging - but that's just my own personal view. I like the interaction of blogging as well as the writing of them

Agreed.
I wish there were a way to filter all blogs that required "authorization" to comment. You are 100% right: it defeats the purpose of the whole thing. I have no desire to read them.

Better to allow no comments at all than to screen for only those that support the writer's stupidity.
I personally screen mine to keep out pure trash. Which is not necessarily the same thing as a differing opinion, btw.

Yeh, I go to comment on some blogs and it just outright refuses any comments from anyone. Some people just have their settings as such. I just can't understand why they are there asking a question or making a statement about something, then refuse comments, it makes no sense to me.

I like the idea of blogs noting whether people can respond at all or if they have to be approved. I hate using a lot of time to respond to someone (and if you have read my bogs you know I can be a bit 'wordy' sometimes) just to discover it was a wasted effort.
I agree it is people's choice whether or not they want people to repond but I tend to agree that if I can't respond, I'm just not really interested.
I'm here for the comI personally screen mine to keep out pure trash. Which is not necessarily the same thing as a differing opinion, btwmunication and in my opinion, one way communication is a dead end street.
I think I cut and paste the above response correctly. I can't dispute a lot of people comment to blogs just to be abnoxious or show their lack of intelligence, but I want to know who those people are and if they want to show everyone on this site what kind of people they really are I think it does all of us a favor. But as you point out, sciurusniger, people do have blocks for different reasons. Thanks for presenting a positive reason why people may chose to review first. Now I can see that point of view as well as my own.

if someone does not allow comment to their blog, you will get instantly get a pop up and you won't even get a page to type a response.
since blogs are personal thoughts and extensions of profiles, allowing comments or not is a personal option.
unfortunately some people may not realize they have their blog setting set to "no comments" and some may inadvertantly have their blog comment/mail settings on "filter". others who have "by approval", which may aid in screening unwarranted or off topic comments, may not realize they must click "accept" or "deny" before a comment appears on their blog.
unless you're blocked, you can always contact them by email.
(technically this isn't a discussion forum so questions may be rhetorical ones. not all people are really looking for answers but are only stating their thoughts in question form.)

Maybe MatchDoctor coders can program a blog "stoplight" type signal of "red", "yellow" and "green" that flags the blog to show "comment status" chosen by the author of his blog per article written. Red indicating "no comments" accepted, yellow indicating "approval necessary" and green meaning "all comments accepted".

I personally screen mine to keep out pure trash. Which is not necessarily the same thing as a differing opinion, btw. What kind of trash? Why not try opening up your blog on a trial basis, say for one week, and see what you think? I've received some ... umm.. "questionable" replies to my blogs, but nothing downright abusive.
Well... Orphes1 called me a fake Jew 8 times in a row (in 8 separate but repeated comments). But I think he was having trouble with the "post" button because he was frustrated (he canceled his account immediately after calling me a "fake Jew" for the 8th time). I think that was the most abusive commentary I've received, but I honestly found it funny.

I agree that the blog should say that comments will be filtered by the blogger- The first comment I posted on lets just call her the QUEEN of NJ that is not brunette's blog was posted - then when she commented on my post - she blocked me from responding. Not exactly fair play or mature behavior -but she is THE QUEEN! I guess some just need to have the last word and don't believe in free speech. I agree - blos should be fair game for comments that are not abusive.
