I had all these grand plans for spring break the week before last, but I guess some force decided I needed a break. Here I was looking forward to yardwork and fishing. Day two I stab a nail in my arm. Swelled a little but looked minor, though it hurt like ****.
Next morning had an arm about three times the normal size, so broke down and went to the doctor. Got the tentanus shot - and no it doesn't hurt getting it anymore but for three or four days after it sure hurts!
So here I am, my vacation. All wrapped up and unable to move this arm. How sad is that? I was suppose to keep it wrapped for about two weeks (and give me credit here I lasted for almost a week). Not to worry though - I am the same person who removed my own cast early to find a job all those years ago - (another story, another time)
I did take the antibiodics but only a few of the pain pills as I don't like taking medicine if I can help it and they made me too tired. My son was irritatingly wonderful, following me around and making sure I didn't do anything when I got super restless (there was a lot of that) Oh the spoiled plans!! But I survived as we all do and on this weekend managed to get in some fence repair, my son and I expanded one of the fences and I am picking up my new horse today - so exciting!!
She's a rescue so will need a little LC and a lot of love and groceries but she is gentle and has the perfect temperment to start my grandkids on her.
So there were some positive things about spring break. We have internet at home now as we ordered the satellite and had it installed (the only service we can get in this area), I found this little mare and made arrangements for her and as much as I hated it I really did need the rest that was forced on me from the hectic schedule of work/school and newspaper. Guess someone was looking out for me afterall and knew the only way to slow me down was to force me into it.
But thankfully I (and my arm) are back to normal activities!! Still a little sore but as long as I don't put weight on it or rest it on the stabbed area I hardly remember I was injured. I did learn though, a little nail prick can be a lot more serious than it looks sometimes, so be careful out there!!
