I broke a rule...

I broke my own rule yesterday of never to insult or bash a blogger for being brave enough to step out there, no matter how ridiculous the content may seem to me. Up to yesterday I'd refrained from arguing with the political extremists from the GOP who cannot seem to rise above childish name calling and provide a real argument, the religious people who spout their personal dogma and quote the bible because it makes them feel superior to others to do so, and the people who need to insult other people on a physical level. All three of these topics are hot buttons that make people react and I was doing my best not to jump on the wagon and wave my finger back at them. I think it only brings me down to their level to argue with those who can't think outside their own box, and everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I have to admit it did make me feel smug and superior when I put the blogger in his place by letting him know that people may not approve of him for physical reasons either, and it wasn't a very nice thing for him to post. But the reality was I wasn't mad at him, he has every right to have preferences as we all do. I was mad at another person who jumped on his blog and made really insulting statements about women, taking it to another level. I had a knee-jerk reaction when I saw that. I should not have bashed back, it made me just as bad as him.

I was going to post an apology to the blogger for my action, but he sent me an email with even more insulting comments about my size, just proving my point that there is no point in arguing with the small-minded. If the very best you can do is name calling I feel truly sorry for you. In the end I'm still not losing any weight and he'll never get any smarter, so I'll consider it a draw.

Mental note made, try to rise above it.
