Life is all about the lessons we learn and our search for happiness. Each of us, from time to time, face hardships. We can defeat those hardships if we believe in ourselves and try.
Stand -- by Rascall Flatts
You feel like a candle in a hurricane Just like a picture with a broken frame Alone and helpless Like you've lost your fight But you'll be alright
[Chorus:] Cause when push comes to shove You taste what you're made of You might bend, till you break Cause its all you can take On your knees you look up Decide you've had enough You get mad you get strong Wipe your hands shake it off Then you Stand, Then you stand Life's like a novel With the end ripped out The edge of a canyon With only one way down Take what you're given before its gone Start holding on, keep holding on
[Repeat Chorus]
Everytime you get up And get back in the race One more small piece of you Starts to fall into place -------Ooohhh
[Repeat Chorus] Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Do you remember that from your childhood? I do. But, on the realistic approach, this couldn’t be more wrong. Words can hurt, but they can also comfort, inspire, or make us laugh, cry and get angry. They are how we communicate and learn and express our feelings. Words have power to bring into being our thoughts and hopes and wishes. Every word you put forth tells others certain things about who you are as a person, what your dreams are, how you look at life’s trials and successes. Words are indeed powerful and they have the ability to tell so much about a person to others; which is why I feel that blogs that are negative or constantly talking about just one subject that may be a complaint, a rant, etc, do nothing for the person that is posting them to make them appear approachable.
I know I am not the same person I was at 20, 30, 40 .. I can feel a calmness that takes over me more and more because I realize that things I used to take for granted are gifts.. simply because of the pleasure they bring to me. A casual remark or compliment from a friend every now and again provides me profound insight into my own personality to see either something I am proud of or need to work harder on to reroute some negative condition into something positive.
I find I can be empowered by gratitude. Knowing that I am not a victim, and there are no lost causes... “I’ve been there, done that, and I know suffering at times, but it’s all good, and I am still standing”. Self pity is an excuse to do nothing. To appeal to sympathy for pity's sake is to seek affirmation of the choice to do nothing. This just doesn’t work.. you have to work to make whatever happiness you need.
I ran across an article entitled “7 Ways to Make Yourself Happier in the Next Hour”... the author spent a year testing out the theories of current scientific studies on happiness & came up with these 7 points. Each of them can help lift your mood and give you a sense of accomplishment. Try them out for yourself and see – the idea is to do as many of them as you can in an hour:
§ Boost your energy by getting up and moving around. Activity is good for your focus and mood and helps you retain information.
§ Reach out to friends. Arrange a lunch date or send an email you haven’t seen or heard from in a while. Socializing boosts moods and creates close bonds which is one of the keys to happiness.
§ Get an old task out of the way. If you’ve been procrastinating about a chore, tackle it now. You’ll feel a sense of relief & a burst of energy.
§ Create a calmer environment. Clear some space around you, get things in order and it will give you a sense of serenity.
§ Plan some future fun. Decide to get to that new movie, order a book you’ve been wanting to read, plan an activity with friends or family. Having fun on a regular basis is necessary to happiness and anticipation is a part of that.
§ Do a good deed. Something as simple as holding a door for someone or offering praise can help because the adage “do good, feel good” really works.
§ Act happy. Smile! Just going through the motion of happiness lifts your spirits and makes you more approachable.
And for grandpa’s ending today: Anyone can fart !!!!!
A little boy and a little girl, both about eight years old, were playing in the sandbox. Unexpectedly, the little boy farts, causing a little sand between his legs to shift. The little girl notices, and squeals with laughter. "How'd you do that?" she asks." Easy," he exclaimed, "I just farted." "Can I try it," she asks? "Sure," he says, "anybody can do it." She concentrates as she strains and grunts. Suddenly, there's a huge explosion, the sides of the sandbox fly off, all the sand flies out, and the little boy is thrown 20 feet, landing up against a tree. He groggily gets to his feet, runs back to where the little girl is. He finds her laying on the ground, out cold, flat on her back, spread eagle. Curiously, he lifts up her dress, peeks underneath, and loudly exclaims, "Just what I thought, dual exhaust."

I love that song and it speaks volumes.Great how you give us words of wisdom and things to really ponder than leave us ROTFLOAO!!!! You already know I think your great so here's to you again . I just happen to be one of those people that chooses to try to post nice. I've had enough ugliness in my life to last me a lifetime as I'm sure most of us here have.

C ~~ I try to do at least one of these daily, usually I end up doing almost all of them several times a week.
It does make you feel better.
When I get to feeling isolated in my office I get up go down the hallway until I see someone frustrated or looking down, I stop talk to them, make a joke usually about myself or something that is going on with my life, it makes them laugh and makes my problems seems so funny that they are no big deal any more. We both end up feeling better and can finish the day on a good note.
