If I were to move to Mexico this would be the spot. The locals are friendly and very very honest. Each town has a plaza in the center of town. Well this one seems better than the others that we have come across so far. At night the teens gather there to talk. No rough housing, no smart remarks, just genuine friends sitting and talking or couples walking holding hands. There hot dog venders and ice cream shops. Each Sunday evening they have some sort of event at the plaza. This sunday was childrens night. They did folk dances, sang songs while the littlest ones played among them. Bea entertained the little ones by taking their picture and showing it to them. We befriended one of the vendors who has introduced us to his children and explained that there is virtually no crime in the town and I really do believe him. Tuesday May 1 is Workers Day in Mexico. That seems to be our equivilant of Labor Day. There is a local parade through town with bands and the police honor guard and the local politicians all marching. Well I told you that our hotel manager was a dairy farmer etc. Well it is a real big ETC. He is a Mexican Deputy, which would be the equivilant of a US Congressman! He invited us to march in the parade with him. I started out marching in the first row of politicians but moved back one row to watch how the politicians interacted with the townspeople. After the parade he was talking to an indiginous community leader of a neighboring district. We are invited to join their festivities which include native dancing etc. Rene, our host, explained that we were to be given the the VIP treatment. Boy what a trip to be told we were VIP's. Ok, pet stories. Last night we were outside in the evening and Alice took a little adventure. When she came back we knew exactly what she was doing. SKUNK! luckily she did not get sprayed too badly and the smell came off with just one bath. At 2 in the morning Bea heard the puppy yelping. Some stray dogs had gotten in the yard and had her trapped in the rose bushes. Bea to the rescue! Well it's time to get Bea up from her nap and me into the pool. One problem staying so close to the cows are the flies and mosquitos and they love my fair skin. I have lumps and bumps everywhere that they can get to. I need to buy benedryl gel by the caseload. More later. Hugs Mo
