For the record, I do believe that there is only one path and I do not believe it is anything to do with self righteousness .. or, at least, it shouldn't be and definitely does not have to be.
There is God, there is His way .. he knows how things need to be done for health, safety, and enjoyment of all. So there is His will, His teachings, His provisions, His love .. that is what we strive to attain to There is only one God the Creator.
To worship other gods .. no .. he will forgive it, put up with it for a time, help you to learn to do something else, but he will not indefinitely put up with it. Why should he?
Would you, assuming you are the type of man whom enjoys monogamy, indefinitely put up with your wife bringing home stray men and having sex with them in front of you and the children you had together? Because, it's kind of the same thing!
It's a matter of one person being willing to give everything to the other .. and the other going "Yes, I'll take all the good parts that make me more comfortable. But you can forget me ever showing you any respect or loyalty or putting you above everyone else. But sure, thanks for the dinner!" It's rude!
Out of love, rudeness and all sorts of other stuff is put up with for a time but .. no one wants to deal with it forever, especially when it effects the (other) children!
