This is for real about someone I really know to some extent, having met them online and been in contact with them for years now AND having met them a few times in person to help them out as I could.

There is a 31 year old man named Ben who lives on the streets in Mesa, Arizona or thereabouts. He has been living on the streets for quite some time as he is in need of SSI and has been turned down. His family kicked him out of his residence when he became unable to work and support them. He has PTSD and depression as well as physical health issues.

I have tried to help him in various ways, and have succeeded in the past in getting some clothes and food to him when we had to drive into Phoenix for my doctor's appointments. But, I have been too ill and too poor to help him myself for over a year now.

I am not asking for money.

I am asking people, especially from that area (Mesa, Phoenix and surrounding areas) to consider if they could help and how. The man is in such a bad situation that any sort of help would be good. Anything from buying him a hot lunch, feeding him once, feeding him once a week, letting him take a shower, buying him a new outfit from a thrift store, washing his laundry, giving him some under the table work (he says he was a licensed handyman), letting him crash on your couch, hiring him for a legitimate job and letting him crash on your couch, or .. you know .. whatever you can do, big or small, to help this one person who really needs it and who is not a criminal, not dangerous, not a junkie, not an alcoholic ..

Mind you, if you are not in that area but you still would like to volunteer to help him in some fashion, please get a hold of me. The man is desperate and I can't even afford shoes for myself and haven't been able to for over a year, so I'm not really in a position to help him right now. I hope to be again, one day, but I also hope by then he won't need me to be and I'll be able to help someone else instead!

do you know why he was turned down? many times the office will have difficulty with a person if they do not have a residence .... he needs to have an address set up for this .... also ... is he a vet? if so, the VA may be of assistance ....
lastly, I had a friend in a similar situation ... teo appeals later he is collecting

I know there are places that sometimes give aid, but they are overwhelmed and as I said, his family kicked him out, so how could he have an address right now?

He's been doing all that other stuff, as best as he can with his physical and mental health being what it is.

That's why I'm looking for real people who can really give real help of some sort. Something that will keep him going until he can get on SSI or something that will put him in a position not to need it. Either would be good.

Anything would be good!
