After the death of some person, even many years after, you will often hear someone refer to the deceased by saying, "I get the feeling he's up there now, smiling down on us. And I think he's pleased."
Why is it we never hear that someone is "smiling up at us."  I suppose it doesn't occur to folks that a loved one might be (ahem!) in hell. And in THAT case the person in question probably wouldn't be smiling. More likely, he'd be a tad upset or even screaming. "I get the feeling he's down there now, screaming up at us. And I think he's in pain." Folks don't want to be realistic sometimes.

I heard that when one of my sisters mentioned it after my grandfather passed away at wonderful age of 90. But I was still young myself. I had no idea if that was wrong to say, or what ! lol

Isnt there a story in the Bible similar to that. Where the rich man , who was in hell, wanted Lazurus to give his brother a message that there really was a heel and that he should change his ways?

JMO... I don't believe in hell. I cannot believe a forgiving loving God can condemn anybody to an eternity of misery and pain. Like I said JMO
