As soon as I started reading this I started getting all misty eyed. What is wrong with me lately? I swear everything is getting to me. I remember reading all the time. For me it was my escape. I loved slipping away and climbing my favorite tree where I could read til my heart was content. I don't take the time anymore to read as I did. Funny I bought two bookcases for my bedroom to put all these books I don't read..........really sad. I keep thinking I'll make time, yeah this and tunes blog have made me think. Thank you to and the last quote speaks volumes to me.

I discovered the world of books much later in life.Although they are not
the same authors, they still hold a fascination for me. At 35, I could relate to the
library scene as you did in kindergarten. From there on in, I always wondered why I waited so long to pick up a book. I had missed so much until then.
Thanks Sci...wonderful blog!

Beautiful writing here lady.. you took me back to my youth.. reading to grandpa.. books were introduced to me by that sweet man as he read, but very slowly as he was only afforded school rights to grade 2.

Books then became my portal of escape from the nastiness of some people and places and my love of where they allowed me to escape.

You are an author of beautiful escapes and voyages to places long misplaced.. thank you.

Another bookish child here - I, too, read everything I could obtain. And it is the reading of a good book that remains perhaps the most anticipated luxury - one that even I can well afford, on my modest artist's income.

There is no difference between the perceptions created by typeset words on old, yellowing pages and all those things we see when we lift up our heads and look around us.
Hmmm... except that these are perceptions created by others to share with us their vision of the universe. And each shared vision helps us see beyond whatever limitations our world may present to us.

A great blog - and a very great read.

Oh, yes !...Thank you for the journeys back, here also...
Another voracious reader when still knee high to a grasshopper, was I...everything, from the fantastic serialized adventures of Tom Swift,.. to Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, were what started me down the road of love for literature.... Robert Service and Jack London are still my personal favorites, however, with their wild and wonderous tales of adventure, and woe, in the wilds of nature,...and of men.

Thank You...again...

before I even entered first grade, books were my escape from the terrors of my world.. my mom would take us to her sisters house and while my sisters were playing Barbie and listening to the Beatles, I was stretched out on the floor in front of the bookcase poring through the endless rows of encyclopedias.. in my eyes I thought my Aunt and Uncle had to be incredibly wealthy to even own an entire set of Encyclopedia Britanica.. My mom would have to drag me to the car when it was time to go.. I didn't want to leave my safe place where the pictures took me to places I never knew existed.. places that dreams are made of..

wonderful blog Sci.. thanks for the trip back in time
